People were asking that the writers of the Halo books should also write the story for the games but since they don't know what books are really like, now they cry about it.
As someone who'd worked in gamedev a LONG time, let me explain the conversation that the devs (probably) had when writing this character:

ODST’s hate Spartans by the way. There’s a lot of beef there.
In the very first novel, Master Chief’s first kills were three ODST’s in a base gym because they started a fight with him. They do not like Spartans.
I’m not saying this character’s dialogue is great or well timed but many are clearly unfamiliar with the history between ODST’s and Spartans.
