VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP MUST TRANSLATE INTO LIVELIHOODS The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training has a strategic role in equipping young people with practical competencies that respond to the changing demands of the economy. Vocational training can open pathways into construction, manufacturing, agriculture, mining, technology and other productive industries, while entrepreneurship can enable young people to establish enterprises and create employment for others. The priority must be to strengthen the connection between training institutions, employers, financial institutions and markets. Young people need more than certificates; they need skills that are in demand, opportunities to gain practical experience, business development support and accessible funding mechanisms. This is how empowerment becomes measurable economic participation

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SYMPOSIUM, TURNING YOUNG PEOPLE’S POTENTIAL INTO JOBS, BUSINESSES AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Thousands of young people are expected to converge in Harare from 4 to 5 November 2026 for the Youth Empowerment Symposium, an important platform for advancing skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation and youth participation in Zimbabwe’s economic transformation. The event which was organized by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, comes at a critical juncture as Zimbabwe pursues the objectives of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and Vision 2030. Its significance lies in connecting young people with practical opportunities, strengthening their participation in national development and building the human capital required to achieve an empowered, prosperous and upper-middle-income society. The symposium also comes ahead of the 2026 YouthConnekt Africa Summit in Rwanda, where Zimbabwe is competing with Zambia to host the 2027 edition.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT IS AN ECONOMIC STRATEGY Zimbabwe’s young people represent a major national asset whose potential must be translated into productive economic activity. The Youth Empowerment Symposium provides an opportunity to connect youth development with the broader economic transformation agenda under NDS2 and Vision 2030. Empowerment must go beyond motivational speeches to include marketable skills, access to finance, mentorship, vocational training and participation in productive sectors. When young people acquire the capacity to create businesses, develop innovations and participate in industry, they become drivers of employment creation, productivity and national wealth. Investing in youth is therefore an investment in Zimbabwe’s long-term economic competitiveness.

BEYOND ELECTION CLAIMS: CHAMISA FACES QUESTIONS OVER LEADERSHIP AND OPPOSITION FAILURES Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, continues to voice claims on social media that he won the 2018 and 2023 presidential elections. This behaviour reflects a desperate attempt to maintain visibility amid the strong mobilization and consolidation of power by ZANU PF. It is essential to address Chamisa's statements to prevent further misrepresentation of the electoral reality in Zimbabwe. Official results from the Electoral Body indicate that in 2018, H.E. President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa secured 50.8% of the votes and subsequently won the 2023 presidential election with 52.6%. Chamisa's refusal to acknowledge these results is misleading and unfortunate, highlighting a tendency towards intentional deception. His actions portray him not only as a misleader but also as someone who could potentially misguide the public. Chamisa’s rhetoric can be seen as politically exploitative, as he appears to be leveraging misinformation to maintain his relevance among his dwindling supporters. This suggests a clear intent to manipulate the narrative for personal gain, undermining both truth and public trust. Chamisa’s continued rejection of the declared results raises questions about the political strategy behind his public statements. His critics contend that repeatedly revisiting past elections without presenting new, verifiable evidence risks being perceived as an attempt to sustain political relevance rather than advance a constructive national agenda. Moreover, Chamisa has distanced himself and his inner circle from accountability for past political errors. Former allies, including Tendai Biti, Douglas Mwonzora, Jameson Timba, and Job Sikhala, have publicly disagreed with his leadership style. Disgraced journalist Hopewell Chin'ono has also criticized Chamisa for allegedly privatizing the CCC, which contributed to the party's electoral failure. This culmination of factors paints a troubling picture of a leader struggling to adapt and accept responsibility for his actions. Blaming any outside forces is unfortunate as Chamisa only has to look in the mirror to see the real villain in his doomed political career. #PoliticalReality

Thousands of young people are expected to gather in Harare from 4 to 5 November 2026 for the National Youth Empowerment Symposium, a platform aimed at turning youthful potential into practical economic opportunities. Organised by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training under the theme “Youth Financial Inclusion,” the event seeks to advance skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation and meaningful youth participation in national development. As Zimbabwe pursues NDS2 and Vision 2030, youth empowerment is increasingly important to building a skilled, productive and entrepreneurial population capable of supporting industrialisation and sustainable economic growth. The priority is to ensure that young people gain more than qualifications. They need marketable skills, access to finance, mentorship, business support and opportunities to participate in productive sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, mining, construction, tourism and technology. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind reinforces the need to extend these opportunities to young people across the country, including rural communities, marginalised areas and persons with disabilities. The symposium also provides an opportunity to strengthen youth participation in policymaking and implementation, recognising young people as active partners in shaping the country’s future. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s bid with Zambia to host the 2027 YouthConnekt Africa Summit presents an opportunity to expand continental partnerships, showcase local innovations and connect young entrepreneurs with investors and new markets. Investing in young people is investing in Zimbabwe’s productive capacity, economic resilience and future prosperity. #Vision2030

TURNING PREPAREDNESS INTO HARVESTED PROSPERITY Zimbabwe’s proactive procurement of maize seed and top-dressing fertiliser for the Pfumvudza/Intwasa program exemplifies a government that places the welfare and food security of its people first. By combining early input distribution, climate-smart farming mandates, and robust agricultural planning, the nation is well-positioned to weather potential El Niño challenges. Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa, these coordinated interventions bridge immediate seasonal preparation with the long-term developmental targets of NDS2 and Vision 2030. The ultimate measure of this success will be seen in flourishing fields, empowered farming communities, and sustained national food abundance. #PfumvudzaIntwasa #ElNinoPreparedness

EMPOWERING FARMERS AND TRANSFORMING RURAL LIVELIHOODS Agriculture is the bedrock of Zimbabwe’s economy, driving rural industrialization, employment, and poverty eradication. The Government’s massive mobilization of inputs targeting up to five plots per household where capacity permits demonstrates a steadfast commitment to grassroots economic empowerment. When smallholder farmers receive adequate seed, fertiliser, and technical guidance, they transition from subsistence farming to commercial surplus production. This grassroots productivity generates wealth at the community level, stimulates local agro-processing supply chains, and uplifts rural livelihoods across the nation.

DRIVING SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL SUCCESS The climate-proofed Presidential Input Scheme has transformed Zimbabwean agriculture by anchoring production in sustainable, conservation farming practices. Targeting three million rural households alongside a dedicated peri-urban component for 500,000 beneficiaries ensures that agricultural productivity is scaled across every available space. By mandating the inclusion of traditional grains within standard input packages, the program actively reduces rural households' exposure to drought related crop losses. This structured approach not only strengthens household food supplies but also builds long-term agrarian resilience, directly supporting the rural development objectives outlined in NDS2.

PROACTIVE PLANNING Proactive planning is the cornerstone of effective national food security, especially when facing unpredictable weather patterns like a forecast El Niño. By securing maize seed and top-dressing fertiliser well ahead of the summer season, the Government is eliminating traditional delays and ensuring that farmers are equipped for success before the rains arrive. With about 45 percent of required basal fertiliser already distributed and millions of plots prepared across the country, the Second Republic is translating policy commitments into tangible, ground level support. Early availability of inputs empowers smallholder farmers to plant on time, optimize their yields, and maintain consistent food production regardless of external climatic pressures. #NyikaInovakwaNeveneVayo #EDtheGameChanger #NDS2

VALUE ADDITION, INDUSTRIALISATION AND EMPLOYMENT CREATION MUST DRIVE ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION Zimbabwe's development ambitions require a stronger transition from the export of primary commodities towards domestic processing, manufacturing and higher-value production. The Ministry of Finance's 2026 National Budget projected real GDP growth of 5% and identified mining, financial services, agriculture and manufacturing among the contributors to economic performance. The July 2026 Mid-Term Review subsequently projected gold production of 55.6 tonnes and reported increased lithium exports, highlighting the strategic importance of the country's mineral resources. The 2027 Budget continues to build on these opportunities by encouraging mineral beneficiation, agricultural processing, manufacturing, technology adoption and the development of competitive domestic supply chains. Tax measures and investment incentives are being assessed against their capacity to stimulate new production, transfer skills, expand exports and create sustainable employment. Young people are benefiting from stronger vocational training, technical education, entrepreneurship support and improved access to finance for viable businesses. President Mnangagwa's emphasis on industrialisation, investment and the Zimbabwe is Open for Business principle provides a policy basis for mobilising private capital and strengthening economic partnerships. Therefore, the 2027 Budget is going to focus on measurable productive outcomes: more goods manufactured locally, greater value retained within Zimbabwe, stronger export earnings and jobs that improve household incomes. #Vision20230
