TLDR; this was a troll and though I made a few hundred swing trading over the weekend, I definitely did not hit the lottery. Now, if you want to learn something, keep reading. If you've been following me since the 2021 bull, you know I've built my platform on transparency and education, especially when it comes to calling out scams and bad actors. The meta of the week always attracts its share of schemers, and sadly, many influencers are all too ready to exploit their followers for a quick buck. The current presale meta on SOL is no different. I'm genuinely stoked for my friends who struck gold with $BOME this weekend. If you think this was cope, you need to go touch grass. But here's the thing: I'm watching too many of our mutuals fall prey to scams left and right. Here's what to look out for: 🔹 Profiles with thousands of followers but only a couple hundred posts flaunting massive, obviously-photoshopped gains from the token of the night (in this case, $BOME) while wearing pfps of well-known projects like BAYC or Punks. --- I simply searched $BOME and ripped the screenshot above from one of the dozen scam accounts doing exactly this....only one person called me out. This took me about 30 seconds. 🔹 These accounts usually shill a plethora of tokens, nothing else. If their 'gains' post also tells you that if you missed $BOME you can still catch whatever sketchy shit they're shilling, that's your red flag. --- Literally just scroll through their TL for 10 seconds. If you still can't see these signs...sigh... 🔹 Influencers with shady pasts suddenly dropping presale addresses after being gone from your TL for the last 6 months. --- No, the people calling out their past rugs and scams are not coping and fudding, they're literally just trying to save your dumbass from falling trap too. 🔹 Even 'legit' // active influencers might not always disclose when they're getting paid to shill. It's better to be cautious. --- I've had over 20 paid promo requests since posting the OP from the very tokens being hyped up by familiar faces. One of them even told me names of other accounts they're paying to shill for them. And most of you follow these clowns like they're your best friends. Many of you trust me, and I'm grateful for that trust. Yet, today alone, I've gained 100+ followers and countless DMs of congratulations from people who took the bait on my photoshopped crypto gains. It's a stark reminder of how gullibility can endanger your assets. Thankfully, I'm not here to exploit that trust, but rather to teach you. Now, onto a related note that's equally disappointing. As we've been fundraising for @Seekr_io, aiming to genuinely advance the Web3 space, I've seen a stark contrast in how funds are raised. Individuals I've approached for Seekr investment, who previously ignored me, suddenly reached out congratulating me on the fake gains. It's clear where their priorities lie - quick, personal gains over meaningful contribution to Web3. We won't be accepting their investments. Moreover, the ease with which anonymous accounts raise millions within hours for memecoins, compared to the diligence we undergo for legitimate fundraising, is baffling. This cycle of selfishness is why we've distanced ourselves from the degen side of the space. So, why did I create that post? 1. To educate and hopefully prevent some of you from falling for scams. 2. To grab your attention. 3. To demonstrate the contrast in raising funds for genuine projects versus memecoins.
