Tackling all of life’s challenges for your kids is much like eating all of the food on the plate for them. Hopefully I don’t have to finish the rest of that analogy.

Discipline ≠ punishment.
Latin discipulus = student. You’re not forcing yourself.
You’re choosing what to study, and showing up daily. What are you a student of right now?

Hey mom. Hey dad. You can do the thing. It’s not for you, or about you. It’s for them. It’s about them.

My AirBnb list was always reasonable, and now rules are changing. Strip the sheets. Take out the trash. Pull your kids from bad environments. Stop being a hypocrite. Fix your health. Have some manners. Raise a strong family. It’s all I asked.

Unpopular opinion. Schools are trying to “innovate” by leaning more and more into AI. The students who are most likely to be at peace and excited about life will lean into these three even more: HI (Human Intelligence) EQ (Emotional Quotient) PE (Physical Education)

The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms. - Attributed to Socrates So- let’s define terms. Who wants to share their company values with the class? Drop them below. 👇🏽

Tasks that are unreasonable. A world that is unforgiving. People who are unkind. Standards that are unacceptable. Situations that are unfair. Motion without understanding. Looking into the face of all of those, simultaneously, and deciding you will still win. Thats the game.

Many people love to talk about leadership. Lots of us love to share quotes on leadership. Endless commentary on leadership (mostly on how others do it well or poorly). Not a lot of people love the sacrifice, beatings, and long tail commitments required for leadership.

People demand laser-specific prompts to crush it at work, then live their lives on “vibes,” & “someday.” Leadership starts when you stop outsourcing clarity. Write the prompts that matter for yourself & your family.
 Business gets detailed prompts.
Life deserves them more.

AI is great at doing the things and creating the things you won’t care about on your deathbed. If it’s going to matter at the end, the work is still human.

This will increasingly lead to distinctive outcomes.
The biggest disruption in education is the family that grows together, and that produces kids who are able to: Have conversations. Be at peace with who they are. Stay away from social media and other distractions. Read, think, and converse. Prioritize physical health.

Lots of debate on how/if/when kids should interact with AI. Far more immediate upside in kids getting better with “hey, hi”. Being able to hold a conversation and engage others with genuine curiosity is the skill that never goes out of style. Learn the skill of being human.

If you are stressed out… If you don’t sleep, eat well, or exercise… If you scroll all day… If you complain about the job/spouse/life… Why are you surprised that your child is struggling with anything? Lead yourself so you can lead them.

Seeing an interesting trend and want feedback: Does anyone avoid doing a VSL or Webinar for their company because they don’t feel comfortable on camera? I have a hypothesis for why this may be, but want to hear from you all first.

🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting after a 22-year-old who runs into BURNING BUILDINGS as a volunteer firefighter was told he isn't qualified to be a paid firefighter... ...because he was HOMESCHOOLED. Then the city changed the job posting to cover it up. His name is Andrew Coates. He's 22 years old, in Nebraska. Right now, today, he runs into burning buildings as a volunteer firefighter for Cedar Bluffs Fire. He is a state-licensed EMT. He is doing the job. For free. All he wanted was to get PAID to do it. In his words: "Make a career out of it would be the goal. To get paid to do what you love." So he applied to the Fremont Fire Department. And in April, the city rejected him. Why? Because his high school diploma says he was homeschooled. That's it. That's the whole disqualification. Not his EMT license. Not his fitness. Not his record. Not his experience pulling people out of fires ALREADY!! ...how he was educated. The job posting he applied to said "graduation from high school." That's all it said. He graduated high school. He has a diploma. And AFTER they rejected him, the city went back and added the word "accredited" to the job description. His own fire chief, the man who has watched Andrew work, showed up to defend him: "I feel the city of Fremont is really missing out here, and in my mind, because of his homeschooling, you guys are discriminating against him." Over THIRTY homeschool families showed up to stand behind this kid. And the Civil Service Commission? They said it isn't their job to touch city policy. Homeschoolers are literally a generation of kids who read ABOVE grade level, who work with their HANDS, who volunteer in their communities, who show up for their neighbors. And this young man is the proof. At 22, he's a certified EMT and a volunteer firefighter, while plenty of his peers are on a couch. When your house is on fire at 3 a.m., I promise you will not ask the man dragging your children out where he went to high school. You will not ask if his diploma was accredited. You will thank GOD he came. Andrew isn't even fighting for himself anymore. His words: "I think now it's turned into we want to make sure that every homeschooler has an equal opportunity." That's a better man than the policy that rejected him. Fremont, you have a licensed EMT and an active firefighter begging to serve your city. And you turned him down over paperwork, then rewrote the paperwork to cover it. Fix this. Hire him!!!!!!!

Pretty much. The books and conversations can include anything under the sun. But a deep personal engagement and a commitment to excellence is far more important than which twists and turns of history or literature they follow.
Books. Conversations. Exercise. Home budgeting. Investing. Entrepreneurship. Cooking. Cleaning. Chores. More books. More conversations. Adults who lead by example. This is the “curriculum”.
