Just a quick tweet to say thanks to all those I’ve interacted with on this platform over the years. It used to be a great place to exchange ideas and experiences. Sadly it’s not like that now. I remember some great times live-tweeting #BehindTheScenes in my TV career. Thanks all!

I’m sorry. Large sensor/shallow depth of field for a select cameras only in sport doesn’t work. It’s incongruous, draws attention to the shot, and frankly, too often out of focus.

I’m making what used to be solely a photography @instagram account into a combined photography, camera and television directing account. Do give me a follow if that appeals in any way. #Director #CameraOperator #Photographer #BehindTheScenes instagram.com/mattfpictures

Thanks to all the production companies, broadcasters and programmes I’ve been privileged to work with in 2024, and the kind teams and individuals who gave me an opportunity, took a risk on me, or just kept booking me this year. Here’s to 2025! #TelevisionDirector

Broken @NHS: our doctor’s surgery will not speak to us about our 15 year-old daughter as she hasn’t given them permission to do so. I said she’s a minor and you can deal with us, her parents. They said a child over 11 must give permission. 1/

They asked for her direct mobile number. I refused to give it to them and told them that’s not how the law (or responsible parenting) works. All we wanted to do was book an appointment. Trying to book a doctor’s appointment in the UK is next to impossible. Astonishing. 2/

Today I directed the coverage of Big Ben’s bongs and the national two-minute silence for #ArmisticeDay live into @thismorning, followed by Lunchtime News and a very busy Evening News for @itvnews. I love my job but I’m ready for a sit down and a cup of tea! #TelevisionDirector

That was quite the #NewsAtTen to direct: very much a feeling of the calm before the political storm. Stunning work from @tombradby and the whole @itvnews team in Washington. @ITV coverage of the presidential election starts tomorrow evening at 10.45pm.
