Most municipal issues find their route in provincial policy. If we want life in our towns and cities to get better, we need to look to the Province for most reforms.

This is the wrong message. Broaden your appeal when signing up new members. Engage everyday Canadians into the process. Lead them towards a winning message and set of ideas. A party that is set up to ignore its members is not durable. Arguably, this is what the last few months in BC have taught us. KLF won with 51% on the 4th ballot. Hardly a resounding endorsement. She chose to alienate the membership that supported other candidates. In doing so, she shrunk her inner circle to a group that did not reflect the membership at all. Lorne was able to rebuild by reflecting what were the consensus views among members, and broaden his appeal to everyday British Columbians.
Dear Canadian Conservatives: Ignore your party members. Be exceptionally normal. Win big. You’re welcome.

. @ABDanielleSmith, @LDoerkson, @PremierScottMoe, @E_Duhaime, @TonyWakehamNL and @fordnation should sit down to talk about a unified approach to provincial autonomy within confederation. There’s never been a better time.

“Housing-first approach” We hear this term a lot when politicians discuss homelessness 3-5 years ago, we had a shortage of shelter beds, largely driven by huge increases in refugee and temporary immigration numbers Today, the city has spare shelter capacity You can’t solve homelessness without realizing the issue is drugs, not shelters
If I could address one issue as a councillor, it would be homelessness. Through a housing-first approach, we can deliver dignity to people in need and ensure our public spaces are safe and welcoming.

93.5% of Canada is now governed by provincial governments who want more power and autonomy from Ottawa. Let’s start talking about rebalancing power in confederation towards provincial capitals. (BC, AB, SK, ON, QC, NL, NS, Y)

7 conservative governments across the country. And a government in Quebec in favour of more autonomy, and an ascending Conservative Party. Is now the time to start talking about rebalancing confederation in favour of the provinces, away from the Feds. We should shift tax points (personal and corporate) away from Ottawa towards provincial capitals. The federal government’s power comes primarily from its ability to transfer tax dollars with strings attached. Time to cut some strings.

A Conservative government elected in B.C. is the perfect follow up to the separatists losing in Alberta. Alberta and B.C. will revive optimism in this country.

The election outcome in BC last night is evidence that Canadians want common sense conservative solutions, but without the angry self-righteous packaging of some leaders. Turns out @LDoerkson was the right guy for the moment. Congrats to the team who made that happen.

The promise of universal healthcare falls apart when ppl whose lives are at risk can’t get access to the available care they need. Alex Shved and Sabrina Apitz-Grossman are both fighting for their lives. Their stories should force an overdue debate on healthcare reform, and how to live up to the promise of “universal” care.
