Maja Chwalinska did not win Roland Garros, but she won the hearts of everyone over the last 3 weeks. A journey that started from qualifying. From world #114 to a new career high ranking of world #21. The first qualifier in history to reach the Roland Garros final. To think that in 2021, she stopped playing tennis for months due to a battle with depression and self doubt… Back then, it would’ve been nearly impossible for her to imagine herself in a Grand Slam final. Her father worked as an electrician in the coal mines and her mother is a receptionist. They worked tirelessly to support her dreams from the time she was little, and they uplifted her when she had to stop playing tennis to protect her mental health. Her run in Paris reminded the world that if you work hard at your passion every day, if you have people who love you, and if you never give up on yourself, the ranking next to your name holds no meaning… You can still make your own fairytale. Congratulations on everything, Maja. 🥹 🇵🇱❤️

It’s fascinating how expensive and yet utterly rubbish British trains are. Should have driven…

Ed Miliband’s response here is absolutely shocking. Economic illiteracy. His net zero delusions are costing Britain jobs, money and energy security.

Bro just casually exposed Alonso and Vettel for requesting weaker teammates in their contracts... 😭 God, I'd do anything to see this Hamilton back next season

The failure of the match officials to deal with this on the spot is almost as shocking as the incident itself. The offender should have been sent off there and then with a semi-final place in the balance. A fat lot of good the retrospective justice does for Ireland's women.
France's Axelle Berthoumieu has been banned for 12 matches after being cited for biting Ireland's Aoife Wafer in Sunday's #RWC2025 quarter-final.

@afneil #1: random question of the day if you have time. As an ignoramus, if we were to raise the threshold to say £20k (or the number that doesn’t leave folks on £30k or less worse off) and then have a flat 30% tax rate across the board and remove inheritance tax, would this in

#2 theory provide growth and eliminate frustrations as everyone is ‘equal’? I’m sure I’m being dumb and missing a lot here, just curious based on your expertise if there’s a simplification of taxation which would provide growth with (hopefully targeted & sensible) enforced

#3 government spending reviews and overall make folks better off? Realise there’s lots to this, just curious about in principle/theory.

This is absolutely class, Lymington Town on way to play FA cup football match before getting to the bridge to go into Wales. Players asked for passports messing about. Goalkeeper didn't have one so they told him to hide, then this is what happened:
