"I don't want to get big and bulky like a bodybuilder" Yeah, same here. I hate it when I pick up a barbell and accidentally win the Olympia.

You know what becomes an underrated flex as you get older? Staying in on the weekend. Wake up early. Run a few miles. Throw around some heavy weight. Handle your work. Then put the phone on DND. The rest of the day belongs to your family. Baggy sweats. Oversized hoodie. Grocery store run. Good food. A few snacks. And absolutely nowhere to be. I used to think nights like this meant missing out. Now I realize logging off and locking in at home is the move. The work is done. My people are taken care of. I've got a head start on tomorrow, but I'm in no rush to get there. This is home-maxxing. Build your life around what matters, not what's going on around you.

I think a lot of people would enjoy training more if they stopped trying to optimize every single thing. Not every workout needs to be perfect. Sometimes you just need to go lift some heavy shit and get on with your life.

You need people around you who will call you out. People who respect you too much to lie to your face. There’s a massive difference between people who make you feel good and people who force you to get better. Most people are surrounded by the first group. Cheerleaders clapping for every step you take while you're clearly getting worse. That's not support or love. That's enabling. You don't need validation. You need truth. The right people don't care about keeping you comfortable today. They care about who you’re becoming tomorrow. And if the people around you don't make you better, they're not really your friends. They're just an audience watching you fail.

I hope you know this: your life can still change in ways you haven't even imagined yet. Let's make today count for something.

I don’t think people realize how much of their personality is just whatever they’ve been around for the last 5-10 years. Your environment (yeah, even your digital one) is doing more work on you than you think.

I used to think being drunk was the point. Staying out all night, having another drink because “one more won’t hurt,” (it was never just one more), having those random 3am conversations that felt like you were solving the world and then barely remembering them the next day. And for the record, I wasn’t exactly the guy having two beers and calling it a night. When I went out…I went out. At some point I realized I actually like the other side of it a lot more. Getting up early, going for a run, lifting, being present with my family, and knowing I’m not dragging my ass through the next day because I decided to stay out drinking the night before. It’s funny because I used to look at 4am and think, “Damn…we’re still up.” Now I look at 4am and think, “Alright, let’s go” I don’t think one is morally better than the other. It’s just a different life and honestly I’m a lot happier with mine now. I like who I am more when I’m clear-headed. I like waking up knowing exactly what I said and did. I like being capable, present, sharp, and ready for whatever the next day asks of me. I like being able to show up for my family, get after my goals, and actually feel good the next day. If an opportunity comes up, I’m ready. If I have a goal, I’m not constantly negotiating with myself about whether tonight is worth sacrificing tomorrow. This isn’t some stance against drinking. I’m just sharing how I feel and I know that 4am used to mean one thing to me…now it means something completely different. And I prefer this feeling.

Currently running ~20-25 miles per week and lifting 4x/week. Training is still my top priority, but the goal is to be at my absolute best by 40 (I'll be 39 in November). Stronger, faster, more endurance, more power, better mobility...all of it. And that's just the physical. I'll keep improving in all areas of my life, and I'll do everything I can to document/share it with you all 🤝

I’m convinced half of what we call “mental health struggles” is just nothing happening in your life. You’ve got an algorithm that feeds you exactly what you want. Friends who never challenge you. A routine that requires zero effort. A life that asks nothing of you. Your brain doesn't want comfort. It wants to be used. Give it nothing and it starts inventing problems just to have something to do. Comfort isn't neutral. It's quicksand. The longer you stay, the harder it is to move. If you're feeling off and can't name why, check if you've built a life with zero edges. No deadlines that matter. No conversations that could go wrong. No version of the week where you might actually fail at something. Add one back in and see what happens. You don't need more balance. You need more friction. More proof you can handle what you think you can’t. You’re not fragile. You're under-used.

I don’t know if I run for physical health, mental health, or because @zachpogrob created Aura.

You know what's underrated? Going to bed proud of how you spent your day. Knowing you trained. You worked. You loved your family. You kept your promises. You respected yourself today. Give me the simple life. The one built on hard work and purpose. I don't want the wild nights, wasted weekends, or chaos that comes with chasing cheap highs. Keep the drama, the crowds, and the desperate search for validation. I'd rather wake up with a clear mind than a good story. I want my energy going toward building, not escaping. Give me work that matters. Training that challenges me. Long runs, heavy weights, real food, honest conversations, and time with the people I love. Give me a God I actually talk to, not just believe in. From the outside, it probably looks boring. From the inside, it's the most fulfilling life I've ever known. Everyone wants more. I just want what matters. A life I can be proud of. You don't need people to understand this life. You just need to keep living it.

Your words become the limits you live inside. So many people train their minds to quit before they start. Stop that shit.

If you’re out of shape, your best investment probably isn’t another outfit, pair of shoes, or accessory. It’s a gym membership and the decision to start taking care of yourself. You can dress up almost anything but you can’t out-style neglecting your body.

The three things that will change your life aren't complicated. A body you've trained. A mind you've protected. The right people beside you. That's it. That's the whole cheat code. The only thing standing between you and all three is a decision. The Holy Trinity of a life well-lived.
