Well said @RMCunliffe
- @RMCunliffe “I am a Jewish woman being called antisemitic. I don’t think you would sit here & lecture somebody of any other religion or race on what counted as bigotry or racism towards them in the way you have explicitly called me antisemitic..I don’t think you would do that

Maybe if the Oldspeak bookshop had been selling Sally Rooney novels everyone would have chased them out of the place

You can have a level of wealth unimaginable to most humans and still, at the end of the day, you're left with yourself.

I think we should reduce it to 40. Twenty-odd years having to work is enough?
Good. Moving it to 67 was vile and of course carried out by the TORIES. Life expectancy does NOT support a state pension age of 67. State pension age change to 65 massive update as it crosses threshold after DWP response. Pressure mounts on Chancellor John Healey before budget as concerns rise that levels of poor health are increasing in the UK. express.co.uk/finance/person…

Potential downsides: creating the risk of a 2046 PASPAR campaign led by old people who didn't realise they could potentially have claimed their pensions earlier

Lot this morning about Reform's "vetting". When some of the most senior figures embrace Ethno-Nationalism, advocate machine gunning refugee boats and subject Kemi Badenoch to vile racial slurs, what does vetting really mean. What's Reform's decency threshold actually meant to be.

That’s bleakly funny. Very few stand up but their numbers are eventually supplemented when he comes on to recipients of the state pension - which is, I need hardly state, a welfare benefit. Reform is not a party of strivers & wealth creators.

After nearly 2 full decades in war journalism, I admit that it does depress me that of the many opinions I hold, the one that drives the most abuse, is the belief that I want both Jews and Arabs to live safely, securely & prosperously as neighbours & friends in the Middle East.

This is a big deal. Cllrs might lose their positions, and it throws local government budget processes into difficulty. But its the right principled stand. Green Councillors must make a choice, mainstream politics or crankery. Cannot have both.
BREAKING: The Labour Party has said that power-sharing agreements with the Green Party will end unless local Greens explicitly reject their party's "Zionism is racism" policy The Labour Party has asked all Labour groups in power-sharing agreements with the Green Party to review their arrangements in local government after the prime minister's words at PMQs yesterday. Bridget Phillipson MP, Chair of the Labour Party, said: “The Prime Minister has been completely clear: this policy is wrong and antisemitic, and has no place in British politics. “Where local Labour Parties currently have an arrangement with the Greens in local government, we expect their Green counterparts to make clear that they reject this position and to call on their national leadership to reconsider the policy. “We have asked local Green groups to respond as a matter of urgency. Where they are unable to provide that assurance, Labour will bring any such local arrangement to an end. This isn’t an issue of party politics; it’s about doing what is right and upholding the values anyone holding public office should share. “The Labour Party fought hard to address antisemitism within our own party and ensure it had no place in our politics. We have a responsibility to uphold those same standards in our relationships with other parties.”
