From Iran to Cuba, from Russia to every nation fighting oppression, the struggle for freedom knows no borders.
Receiving the @FundacionFaes Freedom Award, WLC Co-Founder @AlinejadMasih delivered a powerful message: Dictators stand together to preserve their power. Those fighting for freedom must unite across borders to defeat oppression.
Our strength is our unity.

Meet @Paisy_pyansang — a Tibetan human rights advocate and community organizer born in exile, whose work is rooted in nonviolent resistance, youth empowerment, and the preservation of Tibetan identity. As National Director of @SFTHQ – India, she has trained and mobilized young leaders to advocate for Tibetan freedom while defending their culture, language, and fundamental rights.
Inspired by the principles of nonviolence and justice, Tenzin has brought Tibetan voices to international forums, supported political prisoners, and built solidarity across borders.
Her leadership and commitment to the Tibetan freedom movement led to her election to the WLC Leadership Council at the General Assembly in Berlin in 2025, where she continues working alongside democracy advocates from around the world.

I am deeply concerned about the detention of HRDr Zhang Yi, arrested after showing a photo of the Dalai Lama during a visit to Sera Monastery in Lhasa. He remains detained on charges of “inciting separatism.”
Peacefully displaying the image of a religious leader cannot constitute a threat to national security. Separatism legislation must not be used to criminalize the exercise of freedom of expression, religion or belief, or legitimate human rights work.
I urge the Chinese authorities to review Zhang Yi’s detention and to release him immediately, given the serious concerns that his detention may be linked to the peaceful exercise of his right to defend human rights. Pending his release, his safety, due process guarantees, and access to his family and legal counsel must be fully respected.

Berlin is strengthening its role as a global capital for freedom.
With the opening of the World Liberty Congress European Headquarters and the announcement of the 2026 Berlin Freedom Week, the world’s largest alliance of pro-democracy leaders is expanding the global movement against dictatorship—where the legacy of the fall of the Berlin Wall inspires those still fighting for freedom today. - @Tagesspiegel

This week we launched the Train-the-Trainers program with @DemoLabCR’s Freedom Academy, in partnership with the World Liberty Congress (WLC) and @Cornell.
It promises to be a highly valuable opportunity to strengthen the skills of freedom fighters across our network.
In this first cohort, we are training WLC members based in the United States, with the clear intention of expanding this opportunity to other regions of our network in the near future.
