💡 One of my favorite use cases for container style queries is the ability to turn on the debug mode with just 1 CSS variable. @container style(--debug: true) { * { outline: solid 1px red; } } Demo (Chrome canary only): codepen.io/shadeed/pen/WNKNp… Article: ishadeed.com/article/css-con…

Weird how many of these map to WCAG Success Criteria. xitter.cf/vitalyf/status/1560649… It is almost like you can improve usability by following the most baseline of accessibility standards.
🧵User frustrations in 2022. Just a few frustrating design patterns that we should be avoiding when designing today: – Tiny scrollable panes. – Tiny click targets. – Unexpected content shifts. – Mega-menus opening on hover. – Country selector dropdown. – Generic error messages.

After working for months on an epic article about the new `:has()` pseudo-class and how it can be combined with other CSS selectors to a powerful effect — we published it yesterday! There are so many great use cases that now no longer require JavaScript. webkit.org/blog/13096/css-ha…

Please understand: advances towards “back to normal” largely involve the reversal of accessibility measures. Telehealth appointments? Accessibility. Remote work? Accessibility. Widespread delivery and curbside pickup options? Accessibility. “Normal” isn’t good enough.

“We shouldn’t hold back the web just because screen readers/assistive tech/ARIA aren’t there yet” has a subtext of: “I fundamentally see the web as a platform designed for sighted mouse users, that is then adapted for disabled people” which is, in fact, ableism.

It has been one of the biggest, most rewarding challenges of my life to lead this work, and I'm incredibly proud of absolutely everyone involved in the effort to make Ember more accessible. Some big efforts, some small efforts but they all add up! #a11y #emberJS #GAAD2022
Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day! Is Ember the most accessible JavaScript Framework? We think so! Read more about what we've accomplished: blog.emberjs.com/gaad-2022 #GAAD #accessibility #a11y #JavaScript #WebDevelopment
Today is #GAAD, Global Accessibility Awareness Day! I thought I would do a short thread on things you can do and check to ensure your components and interfaces are accessible (with additional links). 🧵✨

AudioEye’s attorneys sent me a Cease & Desist letter (and a follow-up). I have posted it along with my response: adrianroselli.com/2022/04/my… TL;DR: I deleted three tweets, considering I am a self-employed independent consultant, not a multi-million dollar start-up.

:has() is officially live in Safari (not just Technology Preview) 🔥 This is arguably the most anticipated feature in CSS in the past 10 years. Thank you to everyone on the Safari and WebKit teams who made this happen!

Dark patterns in this email: 1. Links stand out in blue but the unsubscribe link is hidden in the text color 2. Link not on the word “unsubscribe” 3. You have to expand the email to get to this bit 4. Hide the link in a big block of text 🙃🙃🙃
