Ryan Bridge of Raise the Colours rocks up at Wetherspoons demanding entry while sporting a fake enamel poppy badge, specially manufactured in China for flag shaggers. Not a penny goes to the Royal British Legion, but at least the performative patriotism looks the part.

Can anyone help me please? I really like the poppy / Union Jack pin badge that Ryan Bridge of Raise the Colours was wearing when he tried to get into that Wetherspoon’s in Gosport the other day, but I can’t find it for sale on the Royal British Legion website. Naturally I could buy it elsewhere, but that would mean that the Royal British Legion wouldn’t see any of the money which sounds like a bit of a shitty thing to do as after all, the whole period of remembrance is about supporting their work in every possible way.
So, if anyone can point me towards somewhere to buy it on any of the RBL’s official channels, that would be great. Thanks!

I believe this will be considered one of the most important videos in US history from this time.

Elon Musk is without a doubt the most grotesque example of extreme wealth being mistaken for virtuous genius that I’ve ever seen, no contest.
A dude whose business empire has had the exceptional luxury of upwards of $38 BILLlON in government contracts, loans, subsidies, and tax credits that lectures us on government waste, fraud, and abuse.
He takes a literal fucking chainsaw to government aid, while hundreds of thousands die from the lack of access, and simultaneously engorges himself at the public pig trough of endless money.
He then takes the grift cash to buy elections, outright rig them, gains extraordinary access to the backrooms and convinces panting sycophants that he’s “fighting the establishment.”
He IS the establishment.
Years and years of missed deadlines, self driving promises just around the corner. Spectacular theatrical marketing presentations presented as new technology, with an army of ball riding zombies to explain why his latest failure is actually evidence of 5D chess wizardry.
All in line to be the friend he doesn’t have.
He was emailing Epstein to find about the “wildest parties” on child rape island, and you people still clamber.
Speaking of mouth breathing followers, the cult surrounding him is even more disturbingly dangerous.
Every glaring contradiction becomes an insult worthy misunderstanding.
Every dumb comment is a masterpiece. Every legitimate totally fair criticism becomes proof that the questioner is stupid, jealous, or secretly working against humanity itself.
It’s so blatantly a cult.
At what point does this bizarre admiration become deliberately and completely giving up independent thought?
You can acknowledge the success of his companies and the remarkable engineering feats without cosplaying that he’s some infallible prophet.
And give his employees some credit.
He’s a trillionaire with huge political influence, a pretty pathetic appetite for public attention indicative of someone that’s insecure, and a documented history of promise after promise that he doesn’t deliver on.
Please, don’t confuse money with intelligence.
They rarely go hand in hand.
Also, realize that proximity to great power is not synonymous with moral authority. The truth is historically the opposite.
And for fucks sake, stop worshipping people who wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire.

Elon Musk is promoting a video that rewrites the history of Nazism to suit today’s far right. Here’s what happened in 1933, who made the video, and why it matters.
Within weeks of Hitler taking power in January 1933, the organised left was being dismantled.
Communists, Social Democrats and trade unionists were rounded up, and Dachau opened in March, initially to imprison political opponents, above all Communists.
On 2 May the Nazis smashed the independent trade unions and replaced them with the state-controlled German Labour Front. A week later, students burned the works of Marx and Kautsky, with a fire oath declaring itself “against class struggle and materialism”.
Dachau’s first murders came on 12 April 1933, when the SS shot four Jewish prisoners: Rudolf Benario, Ernst Goldmann, Arthur Kahn and Erwin Kahn. Benario and Goldmann were young left-wing activists from Fürth.
The very rich were treated differently. Many industrialists had feared the Nazis were socialists, so in January 1932 Hitler addressed Düsseldorf’s Industry Club, playing down his antisemitism and stressing his anti-Marxism to reassure them. Few backed him openly until he took power.
On 20 February 1933, Hitler met leading industrialists, Gustav Krupp among them, and told them: “Private enterprise cannot be maintained in the age of democracy.” It was conceivable, he said, only where people had “a sound idea of authority and personality”. They contributed more than two million Reichsmarks to the election fund of Hitler’s coalition.
Private ownership was preserved for compliant industrialists, company profits rose sharply, and in the mid-1930s the regime even sold state stakes in banks, steelworks and shipping back into private hands.
In 1934, Hitler also had members of his own movement who took its anti-capitalist rhetoric seriously murdered during the Night of the Long Knives.
Yes, the Nazis controlled prices, wages and investment, as Britain did in wartime. State control tells you how an economy is run, and the question that matters is whom it serves.
The Nazi state crushed independent labour, protected compliant employers, and harnessed the economy to rearmament and conquest.
That is why historians place Nazism on the far right, including conservatives such as Ernst Nolte, who saw anti-Marxism as fascism’s defining feature.
The word in the party’s name was largely a recruiting device, designed to lure workers away from the real socialist and communist parties. A name settles nothing, any more than North Korea’s makes it democratic.
The man Musk is amplifying is Brivael Le Pogam, the Paris-based co-founder of Argil, a Silicon Valley-backed company selling AI video avatars, who boasts of using AI to win hundreds of millions of views.
His self-described “masterclass” spends minutes on price controls and the voting habits of American professors. It never once mentions the Holocaust. Race appears once, as “fuel”.
He is candid about why. With Hitler on the right, he complains, anyone defending “borders” or “the nation” is “one step away from fascism”. That is “why Milei is far right” and “why people call Elon Musk a Nazi”.
A nationalist politics is to be cleansed by relabelling history’s most murderous nationalist.
He even cites Leo Strauss’s “reductio ad Hitlerum”, the fallacy of condemning an idea because Hitler held it, and then commits it from start to finish. And his test of freedom is simply the free market, which would place Pinochet’s Chile, with its torture and disappearances, on the side of freedom.
So the world’s richest man is promoting an attempt to free the far right from its own history, turning the Nazis’ first victims into props for their persecutors.
History records which side Germany’s richest men chose in 1933. It’s worth noticing who is now keen to blur it.
It’s polished, confident and wrong, and it’s built to divide: anyone who objects is cast as the enemy of freedom. Freedom for whom?
Remember who filled Dachau first.

MR. LIN FROM THE CHINESE TAKEOUT
I don't know how many hours Mr. Lin works in a day.
And I can't remember exactly how many daughters he and Mrs. Lin have.
But I do know that for years, maybe 30 years, as I've stopped down at his takeout, the last real business in the empty strip plaza, he has been there, over the burners, moving like the wind. Mrs. Lin has been beside him, synchronized, each of them cooking, feeding my family and some evenings it seems like half of our town. Hours on end, years on end, growing gray in our service.
With the girls at a table by the window in the front. Coloring and drawing when they were younger, pouring over their homework when they were older, hopping up to run the cash register or take an order. Remembering the names of everyone in town, addressing us all as Mr. So and So or Mrs. So and So.
Happy family. That's always what I order. Happy family.
And that is what they are. A happy family. In the land of the free. One of the best personifications of the American dream I've ever seen in my life.
For years, it seemed like if it wasn't a Lin girl who was the valedictorian up at the school it was a Medina boy from out on the farm. The two best families in town were the two whose parents spoke the worst English.
We went to Lin graduation parties, we cheered as they played soccer, we heard reports back from college, we kept the secret when one was dating a boy from a couple of towns over. We wondered at how Mr. and Mrs. Lin could work so hard. We wondered how they could keep it up with the girls almost all grown.
And we love them. They are good people. A good family. Wonderful daughters, and a mother and father who were best judged, like Jesus said, by the fruits they bore -- the girls they raised, the business they ran and the community they served.
Until today.
In the brilliant sun of a cool autumn day. In a town named after the financier of the Revolution; in a county named after a signer of the Declaration; in a village where the man who wrote the Pledge of Allegiance was born.
Until today. In a traffic stop as he drove to work.
A couple of heavyset fellas, in tactical vests, with one of them in a Buffalo Bills cap. Within sight of the takeout which Mr. Lin may never see again. Within sight of the takeout where the mayor and school superintendent would soon gather to support the family.
It was federal officers. Agents of an administration that's a stickler for civil immigration law but seemingly blind to constitutional constraint.
An administration I voted for but which has metastasized into a cancer on the body politic.
And today my country embraces Putin and kicks out Lin. And I've had enough. It makes no sense anymore.
But my problem is fixed with a voter-registration form. I don't know how to fix Mr. Lin's problem. I don't know how to convince an autocratic government that snatching up a salt-of-the earth family to meet a deportation quota is immoral and wrong, and contrary to the values that made America great.
The politicians say we need to keep it quiet. But that didn't work in Iraq or Syria or Guatemala or Argentina or Pakistan. Silence in the face of evil is complicity.
And when the Declaration said that all are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, it meant all.
Even the man who cooks your Chinese takeout.
And a country or a political party that isn't smart enough to figure out how to throw out the bad people and keep the good people has larger problems than immigration.
Mr. Lin is a better man than I, and he has proved it year after year down at the strip plaza, where he and his wife raised their girls and fed our town.
He has earned the right to be here, as assuredly as my birth gives me the right to be here.

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.
