You cannot spend years normalising violence, making excuses for the perpetrators, and attacking those who speak out, then pretend you had nothing to do with the outcome.
These monsters did not become this emboldened overnight. Every ignored warning, every convenient silence, and every refusal to confront the problem helped create an environment in which they could flourish.
Your silence was never harmless. And history will not mistake it for innocence.
Last night, gunmen reportedly invaded Nurus Suraj Estate in Millennium City, Kaduna. The number of abducted residents is yet to be ascertained. My neighbour just informed me that her sister's gate was forced open and the family has since vacated the house for safety.
Is this how we are to continue living in the North? No one appears to care about our plight, yet we are still divided and fighting among ourselves over the same individuals.
