If you ran your household or small business the way Bismarck runs economic development, you’d be shut down by now. @robport’s latest piece lays out the ugly truth: @CommerceND has turned into a taxpayer-funded casino where connected insiders play with your money. Look at the track record: 🎰 Auditors looked at 40 big deals from the North Dakota Development Fund. 25 of them didn’t even have the proper paperwork. That’s tens of millions of your tax dollars handed out on essentially a handshake. 💸 State officials and their buddies walked away with government-backed loans. In fact, sitting NDDF board members benefited directly from the loans they were approving. 🚫 Regular Main Street businesses get zero help and higher taxes, while favored firms get fat government checks. @GovArmstrong promised to tear the Commerce Department "down to the studs." Bring out the sledgehammer. It’s demo time. We want to see some studs. 👀 Dissolve the Development Fund, cut off the corporate welfare handouts, and leave that money where it belongs—with the taxpayers.
