APPEAL | Detectives from our Firearms Investigation Team (FIT) are continuing to appeal for information following a double injury shooting in Whiston in May. At 2.50pm on Sunday 24 May, we were called to Pottery Lane, Prescot (next to Stadt Moers Park in Whiston) to reports of two men in their 20s being found with gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to hospital for assessment of their injuries. Extensive work has been ongoing, including CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries. Detective Sergeant Leighanne Davies said: “Our investigation continues, and I want to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone with information who has yet to come forward. This might include sightings of people acting suspiciously in Stadt Moers Park or Pottery Lane around the time of the shooting, or of anyone making off from the scene. “Please don’t assume that what you know is already known to us, or that the details are trivial or irrelevant. Our team thoroughly assesses every piece of intelligence submitted, and yours might well be the vital piece of the puzzle. “Gun crime in Merseyside is increasingly rare in recent years, due in no small part to communities standing together to reject serious and organised criminals operating where they live and work. We share their contempt for violent criminality, and will use all our available powers to take action. “We understand that some people still feel reluctant in talking to us directly, but there are other ways to get information to us, including Crimestoppers, a charity independent of police.” Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X or Facebook @MerPolCC. You can also report information via our website: orlo.uk/owz7l or by calling 101 quoting incident reference 26000411560. Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their website here: orlo.uk/6QgMn orlo.uk/NgNBx
