The Conversion Practices Bill should not pass scrutiny.

Good to see so many important voices will be heard on the draft Conversion Practices Bill hearings.
We’re pleased to be invited to give oral evidence to the joint committee scrutinising the draft Conversion Practices bill. It’s vital that they hear from the many LGB people opposed to this bill and understand the harms it could cause to LGB teens.

Two Tavistock whistleblowers warned about its gender clinic long before it closed. Now they are raising the alarm about the draft Conversion Practices Bill. Watch therapists Marcus and Susan Evans explain why it poses serious risks to children, parents and families.

Because a certain kind of man believes that not getting everything he wants from women is oppression. This applies both to incels and to the type of trans-identified man who insists that speech, laws and physical spaces should be reconfigured around his self-image.
Why is asking for female-only spaces called hateful?

The thing is, Mike, we aren't that fussed when we are in the queue at Tesco. We are a bit more worried if the person with a penis is in the locked female psychiatric ward, prison, changing room. I KNOW! Context is really hard to understand.

💯 and this also applies to #NHSWales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
🚨THIS is what @10DowningStreet @DHSCgovuk should be prioritising - a public inquiry to pull the #NHS back from its near total capture by gender ideology. ❌ NOT introducing amateur & unnecessary #ConversionPractices criminal legislation which will only reinforce that capture. “There urgently needs to be an investigation of why every system that should have protected children, young people, & indeed young adults has failed,” Baroness Hilary Cass told The Sunday Times". @UKLabour eventually caught up that we were right about Self-ID being incompatible with single-sex provision, the scandal at GIDS etc. It will possibly catch up soon that we're also right about the harms of the CP Ban Bill & the need to tackle transactivist/Stonewall ideological capture of the NHS, govt & public bodies... But hell's teeth, it's hard work... #BinTheBill thetimes.com/article/cfde7b4…

Congratulations to the Darlington Nurses. They had the British population and the law on their side, so why it took three years for this to come to pass is a mystery. But now the incorrect policies have been rectified, will we see accountability?
🚨 Breaking: After a three year battle, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust has finally changed its policy on single-sex spaces for staff to bring it in line with the law. It is amazing how simple it is! Now all NHS Trusts must urgently follow suit. Bethany Hutchison, President of the Darlington Nursing Union and lead claimant in the case, said: “This short sentence in a policy has taken women three years of fear, humiliation and extraordinary personal sacrifice to secure. “We were nurses asking for the most basic protection: somewhere private and safe to undress at work, away from members of the opposite sex. Instead of listening, the Trust told us to compromise, broaden our mindset and be more inclusive. We were forced out of our own changing room, placed in inadequate facilities, threatened with disciplinary action and made to fear for our jobs and professional careers. “Vulnerable colleagues were put under intolerable pressure. International nurses feared losing their visas. Women who had experienced domestic abuse were left distressed and afraid. Four of us were reported to our professional regulator simply for speaking publicly about what was happening. “Throughout it all, the Trust defended a policy it had been warned was unlawful. Even after the Supreme Court clarified the law, it refused to change course. It took a full tribunal judgment, an apology, damages and an enormous bill before the Trust finally wrote biological reality into its policy. “We welcome this change because it will protect women across the Trust, but it should never have required a three-year legal battle. No nurse should ever again be treated as we were for asking for dignity, privacy and safety.” See more breaking in the Daily Express and with @CConcern and the Christian Legal Centre who have supported the nurses from the beginning. express.co.uk/news/uk/226004… christianconcern.com/ccpress…

The potential answers are: a) she doesn't understand it, despite having it explained to her properly; b) she doesn't understand it, because it hasn't been explained to her properly; c) she does understand it (the least likely). GRR, Westminster edition.
Very clear explanation of the terrifying failings of the conversion practices bill. Bridget Phillipson is seriously misrepresenting it. Why?

The 19-year-old white supremacist planning a mass murder at a Hindu temple in Illinois was transgender. NBC News Chicago refers to him throughout the story as a male and by he/him pronouns while noting that he "receives hormone injections for gender transition." Meanwhile, Canadian newspapers continue to refer to both the 18-year old man who murdered eight people in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia and the US-based male charged as his co-conspirator solely as women, honoring the preferred pronouns of both murderer and co-conspirator, with no reference to their sex or their trans identification. All of these people are men.
BREAKING: Mass Shooting Plot Targeting Sri Venkateswara Temple in Aurora, Illinois, Foiled A 19-year-old suspected white supremacist, Alexandros Paporakis, has been arrested for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at a Hindu place of worship in Aurora, Illinois. Investigators say the suspect had been planning the attack for two years and allegedly targeted Indians and South Asians. Police recovered an AR-style rifle, ammunition and tactical gear. A potentially devastating hate-driven attack may have been prevented. Paporakis worked as a cashier at a Taco Bell in Arlington Heights for nearly seven months. According to a co-worker who spoke to investigators, Paporakis regularly made racist remarks, particularly targeting Indians. He openly identified himself as a white supremacist and frequently spoke about Nazis and armed struggle.

We are heartbroken in WRN Wales at the death of Claire. We send our sympathies to her family and her many friends. Claire is irreplaceable. Her contribution has been immense. A brilliant mind, a superb campaigner, sharp and analytical, but above all, a wonderful friend. She is pictured here outside the Senedd, after giving evidence at the Stage 1 Reform Committee on the Electoral Candidates Lists Bill. She said Welsh Government had no legislative competence to do this and that the Bill was discriminatory. She was right. (She always was though). Her brilliant blog is here: womensrights.network/post/se… RIP Claire. 💔
ANNOUNCEMENT It’s with heavy hearts that WRN announce the death of one of our own, the truly fabulous Claire Loneragan. Claire was a fundamental part of WRN since its inception and had been key to the growth and the success of our organisation. She is irreplaceable as a WRNer and as a Director. Most importantly though, as a dear friend. We will miss her immensely. We know that all our WRN members will feel her loss deeply, not least her ‘home’ group of Somerset and Dorset. We send our sincere heartfelt sympathies to her husband Dave, her children, her wider family, and her many friends. Claire had been ill for some time but maintained her typical good humour, courage (and not a small amount of ice cream) throughout. When we have needed wisdom, hard work and application, Claire had provided these in abundance. Her hand was in everything that we did. And we all endeavoured to ‘Be More Claire’ as a result. But more importantly than that, she was always our dear friend. Goodbye Claire. We love you so much xx

The Conversion Practices bill could criminalise the parent who tries to convince their teenage daughter that it's okay to be a lesbian. If so many teens are moving from gay to trans we have to ask why. This bill prevents that discussion. Sign the @AllianceLGB letter here 👇
LGB people are not a prop for this Bill. Lesbians, gay men and bisexual people have signed our open letter because we believe it could harm children who may grow up LGB — and punish honest discussion rather than protect them. This Bill does not speak for us. Add your name: lgballiance.org.uk/conversio… #ItsOkayToBeGay

Just once, I’d love to see trans activists and their supporters answer @jk_rowling’s measured and cogent arguments without misrepresenting them or screaming insults. They could start by reading her latest piece and addressing what she actually says, rather than what they imagine she is secretly thinking. Too much to ask? jkrowling.com/opinions/an-up…

If you don't know what the Conversion Practices bill is about, please please watch this. It purports to ban "abuse" but in fact it will criminalise loving parents seeking to protect unhappy children from lifelong harm. It's extraordinarily serious.

❤️ @jk_rowling once again saying what needs to be said: "There is zero evidence that trans-identified men don’t share the same pattern of criminality as all other men. On the contrary, all the evidence points the other way." And it is publicly funded organisations, wasting our money, holding out against women's rights. jkrowling.com/opinions/an-up…

Ireland: the bill to recognise as real non-binary and intersex (some kind of hallowe'en costume, not quite sure) in law has been defeated 87 to 63. How are we supposed to support these extreeeemely invisible types of human beings? They are so invisible, one has never been identified. A missed opportunity. Hopefully another chance to do something retarded about this will come along soon. Perhaps in the meantime we could construct a kind of wishing well/hole in the ground, where people who think they are non-binary or "intersex" can throw a penny in and declare their non-binariness.

Disappointing to hear that no @LibDems contacted by the @DarlingtonUnion have been willing to even respond to them. Given the LD Party just passed a motion to diminish women's rights, politicians should at least look women who have been affected in the eye and tell them why.
LIB DEM SILENCE: We have made every effort to engage all political parties on the issue of single-sex spaces in the NHS and to ensure they hear directly from female staff affected by the impact of gender identity policies in the workplace. We have met with representatives from the Labour Government, the Conservatives, and Reform. We have also repeatedly reached out to the @LibDems, particularly following their troubling treatment of gender-critical women at their recent conference. From @EdwardJDavey, @timfarron, and @HelenMorganMP, we have received only silence. Given that silence, we hoped the party's spokesperson for women and equalities, Marie Goldman MP, would want to hear the experiences of frontline NHS nurses involved in a landmark legal case. Again, silence. Women who believe that biological sex matters, that truth matters, and that every person deserves dignity and respect are hearing that message loud and clear

This ministerial letter fails to engage with any of the substantial criticisms of the draft Conversion Practices Bill. The bill isn’t compatible with rights to family life, to free expression and to live in a society governed by a predictable, comprehensible criminal code.
