The UN has passed a resolution calling for the traditional world map to be replaced with one that accurately reflects the size of Africa.
The Togo-sponsored resolution was backed by most member states with US voting against it. Six countries abstained.

Gazettes Election Campaign Financing Regulations, 2026 and Contribution and Spending Limits for the 2027 General Election
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announces the gazettement of the Election Campaign Financing Regulations, 2026 and the Contribution and Spending Limits for Candidates and Political Parties applicable to the General Election scheduled for 10th August 2027.
The gazettement marks a significant milestone in the discharge of the Commissionโs constitutional mandate under Article 88(4)(i) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, and the implementation of the Election Campaign Financing Act, 2013, which provide for the regulation of campaign financing and the amount of money that may be spent by or on behalf of candidates and political parties in respect of an election.
The Commission remains committed to the impartial and effective implementation and enforcement of the campaign financing framework. The framework is now in place; all regulated persons are required to take immediate steps to ensure full and timely compliance.
