(1/2) I have to say my piece on the AI debate. Why have I spent thousands of dollars on art, and dedicated hundreds of hours into creating a story when AI is actively threatening to devalue human artistic expression?
I've had people ask me, "Why not just use AI to write your book?" "Why not use AI to design your characters?"
It's because regardless of how AI progresses or how impressive it becomes, it's fundamentally unable to do what I can. It's unable to connect with people on the shared experience of being human. It might be able to imitate that, or trick you into believing it can, but the fact that the connection will never be genuine is where our artistic value lies - permanently.
Through AI, the decision making process and expressiveness is undermined. I believe something important is lost, and I refuse to contribute to a future that sacrifices interpersonal connection for aesthetics and efficiency.

Man, everything on social media these days is really eye catching, attention grabbing stuff that really makes you go "wtf". It makes me wonder how absurd things are going to go in that direction. Things are also about reading the climate and being deeper and more personable to your audience, so here I am!
Our artists are amazing, and I am the voice of this. As someone who's trying to tell a new story, something different, I have to ask myself - where does Almagest stand in all of that?
I will say this. For all of the deep readers who will really take the time, just wait. I will surprise you with something.
