SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

This would've been mega.
I can finally talk about Mass Effect Universe.
Since Bioware closed I can now reveal that I was part of the Mass Effect Council, saw what BioWare was building, and provided feedback during development.
• Set 600+ years after the Reaper War
• You play as a customizable N7 agent
• Instead of being a walking gun rack, you're a cross between John Wick and James Bond
• Shepard's legacy preserved, regardless of your ending
• A galaxy divided into three major factions
• Humanity, Krogan, Batarians, and more allied together
• Council races forming their own alliance
• The Geth emerging as a third superpower
• A galactic Cold War instead of another Reaper style invasion with a shadowy adversary
• Geth-built megastructures
• Connections between the Milky Way and Andromeda
• Experimental technology implanted in you as a unique point of difference
• Hacking and manipulating the environment
• See through walls, identify systems, remotely trigger hazards and more
• Handcrafted missions like ME1-3
• But with Hitman-style freedom in how you complete them
• Brutal close-range executions
• Squadmates who can clash with each other
• Romance wasn't being sanitised
• Liara returns - now an incredibly powerful Asari Matriarch
From what I saw, BioWare was making Mass Effect for us, the fans, not for people who don't exist.
It looked incredible.
And now we may never get to play it.

*Eternity itself is an unending concept and thus cannot be measured by any current mortal means.
I've got @GuildWars2 open right now. It's ready to play.
There's a part of me that knows every step I take through the story it's closer to the final bow.
I'm not quite ready for the adventure to end. We've come a long way since Queensdale.

I'm loving @GuildWars2's Visions of Eternity!
There'll be a bunch of VoE stuff next week as this week is the final countdown to Mystica's first show as well as half marathon recovery.
It has come to my attention that the abbreviation for Code of Creation is CoC.
Rest assured, I have laughed long and hard, and now have a firm, strong grasp on CoC.
I'd like to thank Anet for CoC and over the next few months I'm looking forward to sharing CoC with you all.
Out of town this week so no GWBC stream, and I've been ill all this week too!
Next week is gearing up for the band's debut show so that's the priority (sorry I like guitar than games).
Unrelated, Metal Legion is my favourite @GuildWars2 event.
To be a part of this was an absolute privilege. Thank you @ArenaNet and @PlayGuildWars3 for inviting me <3
Thanks to everyone who joined us at Gamescom for an early look at #GuildWars3. We've put together some of the reactions and conversations from those who attended.
