If you make no other resolution. Make one that you will be kinder with yourself in the new year. Even the way you speak to yourself. Talk to self like you’re someone you really love.

Enyewe hamjui how mental illness symptoms can look like. But I get. Stigma means that families are secretive about these matters. This is how bad things can get. We should talk about it more tho. I think it’ll be easier to ask for support if there is less shame.

Thread... My idea of breastfeeding support at work is embodied in #KapenguriaCountyReferralHospital. This cosy place provides a clean, safe and private space for moms to breastfeed, express and store breastmilk while at work. Also for nannies to stay with baby while mommy works!

The curriculum at teachers training colleges does not include how to discipline children positively. Teachers are forced to improvise once they start practising. Often techniques used are violent. This was the case with @RobertOmwa who now champions children's rights:

By acknowledging all the different roles played by all, we can achieve a synergy that would inspire more action by communities, governments, local and global institutions to make mental health and wellbeing their priority.

Alcohol cravings last for about 15-20 minutes. If you can distract yourself with something healthy, you can get through one day in recovery. When I quit booze, intense cravings would come. Rock music was/is my therapy, calls to my mum or siz, or walking away. You can do this💪

One of the most tragic things about the high cost of living right now is, the absolute influx of people in hospital simply due to the inability to afford medication for their chronic conditions. When you can barely put food on the table, meds cease to be a priority.

After the Mental Health Amendment Bill going through the Parliamentary process for more than 4 years, yesterday the Senate finally passed it unanimously. The Bill is now awaiting the President's Assent to become Law. #thereisnohealthwithoutmentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters
