I ruffled a few feathers in a twitter thread today because I said sermons should not be longer than 35 minutes. As someone who has an MA in homiletics, has preached 100s of sermons, and has taught preaching internationally, take my advice. Less is more. 1/5

The cross was never designed to expose your sin. It was designed to remove your sin and expose your value.

one of the hardest yet freeing things I learned to accept is someone’s narrative of me. their experience is valid. no matter who I know me to be, that does not mean that’s who I showed up as to them. only they know how I impacted them, so it’s not my job to agree or disagree.

If Jonah has his way, Nineveh would’ve suffered and died for their sins. He hated the grace of God. Some of us do too, especially when people we’ve deemed unforgivable receive it.

if you’re going to call out one sin, you have to call out all sin.
because no specific sin is “better” than another.
sin is sin.
sin is evil.
sin slaps God in the face.
so yeah, if you’re going to be an advocate against one group of sin, you have to be against all of it.

I hate to say this but in all reality, the world is never gonna get better. It’s supposed to get worse. If it was meant to get better, then the book of revelation wouldn’t be there including everything Paul has said too about the last days...
