Since Jews don't like the term "The genocide of Gaza", we Nitizens have decided to change it to The Holocaust of Gaza' to sound less antisemitic.

Succession (S01E01) The way he walks straight into that office and the theme kicks in… you instantly know you're entering a completely different world. What an introduction to a series.

Male bears will kill another bear's cubs on purpose, so the mom is ready to mate again in a few days instead of up to two and a half years. Some mother bears figured out how to protect their cubs from it. They started living closer to people. That cub with her paw up is learning to stand, which is how bears check for danger over tall grass. Brooke Bartleson, who filmed her, said cubs this age are so wobbly they flail their arms just to stay upright. That's the "wave." She tipped over a few seconds later. She has good reason to learn fast. Park biologists at Katmai in Alaska figure only a third to half of brown bear cubs make it through their first year, and other bears are a big part of why. One study in Interior Alaska found 69% of cub deaths happened in a 17-day stretch in early June, right in the middle of mating season. So researchers in Sweden set out to see what the successful moms were doing differently. They put GPS collars on 26 mother bears and tracked them from 2005 to 2012. Sixteen of them raised their cubs and ten lost them. The moms who kept their cubs lived about 780 meters from the nearest people. The moms who lost theirs stayed around 1,210 meters away. Male bears avoid humans, and the mothers seem to know it. The ones who made it moved toward villages full of bear hunters, because the woods full of male bears were worse. Now go back and look at the mom in that first photo. She's got her head down eating grass while someone stands right there filming her kids. I can't tell you what was going through her head, but now you know who she was keeping an eye out for. We all grew up being told to stay far away from a mama bear with cubs, and some of those mamas decided the best place to raise them was right next to us.

Abrazo.

every fairy tale is a mother trying to warn her daughter about men without scaring her. the wolf is charming and knows a shortcut. the prince shows up only after she's already been poisoned. the mermaid gives up her voice for a guy who never learns her name. we read them as romance. they were written as survival manuals by women who couldn't say any of this directly at bedtime. little red riding hood is about the first man who is friendly to you on the path and asks where you're going. he's warm, he's curious about you, he already knows a faster way to grandma's house. if he looked like a wolf, she would have run. the little mermaid is about every girl who made herself smaller to fit into a man's world. she trades the thing that made her special for legs that hurt with every step, and he still marries someone else. everyone has a friend like that. she stopped painting because he thought it was messy. she laughs quieter now. at every dinner she says "it's fine, he's just stressed." sleeping beauty is about waiting. a whole kingdom asleep for a hundred years because a girl was told her life would begin when the right man arrived. some women are still in that castle at thirty-four, scrolling in bed at 1am, waiting for someone to kiss their real life awake. the witch in the tower is every parent who looked at the world, saw what it does to soft girls, and decided a locked room was safer than a broken heart. she was wrong. you still understand her the first time your daughter asks if she can walk to her friend's house alone. cinderella gets saved for staying kind in a house that punished kindness. try doing that for one week. most of us can't manage it through one bad morning at work. a seven-year-old doesn't notice that the girl always leaves the house. every single story. she climbs down the hair, she swims to the surface, she takes the path she was told to stay off. no warning ever kept a daughter home, and the women who first told these stories knew it. none of them end with "and she listened and stayed inside forever." nobody would tell that one twice. they teach her smaller, more useful things. how to tell a wolf from a man by the way he talks about her grandmother. how to notice when love starts costing her her voice. how to leave the ball at midnight when something feels off, even if it means running down the stairs in one shoe. how to find her way back. every parent reading these at bedtime is saying the same thing. go if you have to. remember the way home. and if you're grown now and still a little lost in the woods, the path is right where you left it.
Having a daughter made me finally understand fairy tales. I know why the witch locked Rapunzel in the tower and kept her hidden from the world as punishment. I know why Cinderella kept her charm and beauty despite her wicked stepmother and stepsisters doing everything they could to make her feel lesser. I know why only a kiss from a courageous man could break a spell of eternal slumber. I know why stepmother's always use poison. I know why a young mermaid would give up her tail to become mortal and mute. I know why young heroines always yearn for trouble, and love to travel into dark and demon-haunted woods, to run toward dangerous men, to get themselves entangled in spells and wolves' trickery. And I know why it always costs them so much to return back home. And I know why in order to finally get their true love, they have to be willing to give up everything.

Replying to @Max_a_secas

Okay but that wasn't the Fun Olympics
I don’t think you guys get it. The reason ppl liked her wasn’t because she had flawless technique or shit. She looked like she had fun, dancing to a very trendy song, and she looked great doing it, and she also wasn’t practically exhausting her soul for that medal
