So far not one poster has created an Andeh's Everday Fix parody funnier than removing import tax from gherkins

🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced five "everyday fixes" ahead of the Budget
1. Carer's Allowance will be changed so carers no longer lose their entire benefit when they earn over the limit - instead, their support will reduce by £1 for every extra £1 they earn
2. Import tariffs will be removed on more than 100 products, including baked beans, chocolate and gherkins, to save households up to £21 on their food shop a year
3. Tax-free mileage rates for workers using their own cars will be made permanent at 55p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, with the rate for additional miles rising from 25p to 35p
4. Parental pay will be extended to over 150,000 more parents a year, including self-employed fathers and partners
5. Hundreds more Post Office drop boxes will be rolled out to save people queueing at branches

My personal fave is “We got it from our charcuterie” “Your butcher? “Ooh do you think so? Must be the way I’ve had me hair done”
I can't take much more of this

Late to reading this v droll piece and just embarrassed myself by LOLing on the train in front of a crowd of boozing West Ham fans
I spent a week relying on just the BBC to educate, inform and entertain me and jotted down some thoughts and emotions for @TheCriticMag

The BBC's "strength in depth" means that its "Cyber Correspondent" has never heard of a language that runs half the websites on the Internet.
Just flashed back to the time I made Nigel Slater's Sausage Lasagna, another culinary shocker... no one but myself to blame in both cases, horrible concepts

I once made a carrot friccasee from Jane Grigson's Vegetables, let's just say the dogs enjoyed it
We all sort of laugh and adopt this 'arent the woketards crazzzzy haha' pose but this was demonic? I hope the people responsible never work in culture creation again
John Simpson feels bad for the staff
I don’t really enjoy bad restaurant reviews, even in the case of Gordon Ramsey, if only because I feel bad for the staff. But this is so superbly written by Camilla Long in the S Times…

That list of names though... spank bank material for Bluesky users
OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country. We categorically reject censorship - whether direct or indirect - and urge the government to change course, amending the legislation which has led us to this point of repressive absurdity.
Oh fuck you
If you ever sought out the novels of Sally Rooney in bookshops – when that was still possible – you’d know they sit in the fiction stacks adjacent to the novels of another SR whose books have been withdrawn in dastardly political circumstances. Until last week, “Rooney” and “Rushdie” had little in common beyond being shelfmates; now they have more than just a physical proximity.
@tanjil_rashid_: This is censorship by other means newstatesman.com/comment/202…
