I’m honestly extremely disappointed, and I don’t think I’ll ever trust Luca again.
I joined @AbstractChain during testnet in July 2024. I built a French community, made thousands of tweets about Abstract, and streamed over 1,500 hours on Abstract Mainnet in 2025.
I spent thousands of dollars and accumulated 4M XP over 1 year and 10 months.
And in the end, they shut down the chain while they were still only in Phase 1 of 3 of their blockchain roadmap.
I honestly don’t even have the words...
Abstract is winding down.
Starting today, all of @IglooInc's focus will go towards taking Pudgy Penguins, Pudgy NFTs, and $PENGU to the next level.
When we acquired Frame in the summer of 2024, the vision was to build the blockchain for consumer crypto. Pudgy Penguins had shown us what it meant to reach the masses, and we believed we could bring that same approach to building a chain.
Abstract achieved a lot in a short period of time; we built the Portal and AGW, onboarded major global brands, amassed over 300 million transactions, and grew a vibrant onchain ecosystem.
The journey became stifled by the lack of a DeFi ecosystem, insufficient liquidity, minimal institutional cross-over, and prohibitively high costs that impeded growth in winning areas.
Unknown to most, Igloo, Inc. had been funding Abstract over the last 18 months.
After losing tens of millions of dollars over two years, building consumer products, assembling an all-star team, onboarding some of the biggest brands in the world, and building a community of millions, we still had not found product-market fit.
In combination with the market's reduced appetite for what we had built and not being able to find a scalable path forward, we could no longer justify taking from the Pudgy Penguins business.
Igloo, Inc. has always been a community-first company. Even after losing 8 figures, we could have launched a token or pursued an ICO.
Ultimately we decided against this. A token only works if there is something driving demand to it, and launching a token that we don’t have conviction in would have been a disservice to our community.
The entire team at Abstract has worked tirelessly with a tremendous amount of passion to make the consumer crypto vision come true. I cannot fault a single one of them for this outcome.
To the Abstract community, I want to thank all of you for sticking by our side on this long journey and for continuing to champion us. You supported us through all of the ups and downs, and I wish the result could have been different.
There will be many that will find satisfaction in seeing this shut down, and that is fine. I take a great amount of pride in having the ambition to venture into the chain business, notoriously one of the most difficult to make work, and the only regret I have is not being able to celebrate a win alongside the Abstract community.
As we wind down Abstract, our full focus shifts to making Pudgy Penguins into the global & cultural phenomenon I know it can become.

I have literally $0 left in crypto and NFTs.
Instead of enjoying a nice week-long vacation by the sea, my car ended up at the scrapyard, and I had to buy another one.
On top of that, my NFT investments over the past few months have been rough.
Despite a great run with $MANCER in August, turning $8K into $17K, I didn't sell the top. I rode the crash all the way down to $5K.
The lesson? Never blindly HODL and believe in a project. ALWAYS TAKE PROFITS.
Same story with @AbstractChain
I invested 2 years of my life into that ecosystem. I believed in @LucaNetz . I always tried to focus on the positives and his bullish interviews.
And for what? I invested money I never saw again. No TGE, nothing.
I'm starting to understand people like @Tma_420 a lot better. They sweep NFT projects, ride the pump, and sell everything a few days later.
You need to be an NFT trader, not a believer.
If you're a long-term NFT holder, you either need to be prepared to lose everything, or NFTs should represent only a tiny percentage of your portfolio.
I'll keep tweeting about crypto and NFT news because I genuinely love this space. It's my passion, and that won't change.
But one thing is certain: I'm completely rethinking my investment strategy for 2027.

Luca Netz made me lose faith in Web3.
I was on Abstract from day one. I never stopped believing because Luca was behind it, and I trusted his promises. I spent around $40–50K and dedicated nearly two years of my life to it.
We were promised a token. They kept our hopes alive until the very end, only to tell us we would receive nothing for the Xp we had earned.
After all that time, money, and trust, I feel scammed by @LucaNetz I won’t stay silent

I don't like the trend of projects shutting down pre-TGE and being seen as somewhat heroic because they didn't extract.
It's incredibly disingenuous because people burn thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of dollars farming these airdrops, I know people who are down five figs on Abstract memes or paid high four figs in StandX fees.
Not doing a TGE just for the sake of it *can* be heroic, but only if there's adequate compensation for the people who used the products in justified expectations of being rewarded

I need my Pudgy community back. @oleeeeeee_ @rainyrael @BadlyNasty and many others who put all their effort and dedication into @AbstractChain and @pudgypenguins every day. The Pudgy community has suffered twice as much because of @AbstractChain's bad behavior and lack of accountability. Now we are facing the consequences of you letting down your community. If you think this space is going to forget and move on, it won’t. Each day is going to get worse because of the injustice and lack of empathy toward the community that trusted and supported you. I’m begging you to do the right thing and compensate somehow @AbstractChain community—not for myself, I don’t care about the money—I care about justice and doing the right thing for the future of this space. Everyone who supports this kind of behavior should worry, because the next person affected or rugged could be you.
