Really nice commentary on our recent @LeverhulmeTrust #iDAPT project glacier algal genome paper. Many thanks to the authors, mainly associated with the @watertoland project I believe. Nice work @_AlexBowles @Bristol_Glac @GeogBristol nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/….
Time to head to Greenland with the @DeepPurpleERCSy crew for some glacial algal chasing on our @LeverhulmeTrust #iDAPT project.

How does algae survive at the planet's coldest extremes? 🍀
That's the question that took Emily Broadwell (aka @em_lm_b) to Signy Research Station, as part of her PhD research at @MicroLabBristo1 🏔️

Really excited to be here as part of our work at @MicroLabBristo1
PhD student Emily Broadwell has voyaged to one of the most remote locations on Earth ❄️🏔️
It took Emily two weeks to reach Signy Island, which is 370 miles from the Antarctic peninsula and 800 miles from the Falkland Islands 🐧

First Microlab meeting of 2024, say hi to this year's team!
We have familiar faces (post doc @JazzedUpScience, PhD students @em_lm_b, Maddy and Paulina) plus new members research technician Sonia Giulietti and PhD student Holly Liken. And of course Chris lurking behind the camera – at Bristol, England

In 10 days I’ll be off to Signy Island, Antarctica with @BAS_News to assess the snow and glacier algal blooms there.
I’ll be sharing more of the journey and what I get up to on our team page (@MicroLabBristo1) and my insta (em_lm98) 🐧❄️
