What a difference a day makes! From 😎 to 🥶. The temperature difference from 87° at Richmond yesterday at 3 pm versus 32° today at 3 pm. Unofficially, the 55° 24-hour temperature difference is the the highest we can find since 1948. 1978 (51°) and 2014 (50°) came closest.

The northern end of #CanaanValley is part of the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and is also the location for the VA. Tech Meteorology weather station, often the coldest place in North America.

A tease to Fall for many this morning with temps in the 40s & 50s. Washington DC observed a low of 59 deg. marking it's coolest August low temp in 20 years. Mountain locations woke up with a touch of frost & lows in the 30s. More of the chill tonight. #MDwx #VAwx #WVwx #DCwx

Low of 32 on Virginia Tech's sensor at Canaan Valley, WVa, this AM. But meteorology professor Dave Carroll is on site at Dolly Sods in eastern WVa where he measured unofficial low of 25 with heavy frost evident.

At 8 pm EST, the temperature in New York City was 14F (-10.0C). The temperature has now fallen 44F (23.3C). That is only the 3rd day on record on which there was a daily range of 44F (24.4C) or greater and tied with April 25, 1915 for the 2nd largest daily range on record. #NYwx
