When being just and honest comes at a price, pay it. When forgiving seems like a defeat, forgive. When everyone tells you to think of yourselves first, do not be afraid to put yourselves in the last place. Be willing to give up time, money, comfort and plans to serve others. May those who see you find themselves asking: “Why do they live in this way? Where do they get this freedom? Why do they love one another so much?” #ApostolicJourney #Uruguay

On November 7th, 1917, the Bolsheviks seized power Russia, promising “peace, land and bread” to the people. Over the next 74 years the people were starved, killed by death squads, thrown in work camps and gulags, and other things unrelated to “peace, land and bread”.

Dear Today,
I intend to do you justice. I can't promise perfection or spectacular achievements. But I can promise having a go. I'll turn up, do my bit for the community, take part, make mistakes and give what I can. Knock me sideways, exhaust my reserves, disrupt my plans - I'll keep at it. I may have to rest and retreat, but you won't get a white flag out of me.
Yours, stubbornly still in the game,
John.
Don't they teach children history in school and family? An Eastern European (Romanian/Polish/Baltic et allii) adopting Russian symbols (disguised as religious ones) should be a contradiction in terms. And an act of high treason.

In 1963, Albanian Cardinal Ernest Simoni was arrested and sentenced to death by Albaniaʼs communist, officially atheist government after celebrating a Mass for the late U.S. President John F. Kennedy for the repose of his soul.
In an interview with Mark Irons of “EWTN News In Depth,” the 98-year-old Simoni explained how he escaped death through remaining steadfast in faith.
Simoni was imprisoned and tortured for practicing his faith, and eventually his death sentence was commuted to forced labor. Simoni continued secretly to say daily Mass as the Communist Party tried to eradicate religion across their region.
Though many understood the risks involved, no one informed the communist authorities. Had the regime discovered what he was doing, he said, he likely would have been hanged. He credited his survival solely to Godʼs grace.
After the Party of Labor of Albania was dissolved in 1991, Simoni was freed from manual labor under state surveillance. He doesn’t speak much about torture he experienced.
“They also took me into the army … and had me march, for 16 hours marching ... without eating, or drinking, I was dying,” Simoni said. “Thank God, he wanted me to be saved. There it was the hand of God that protected me.”
In 2014, Pope Francis was moved by this priest’s testimony and named him one of 17 international bishops and priests to the College of Cardinals in 2016. Pope Francis described him as “a living martyr.”
Simoni travels across countries bringing the Gospel to all people while also speaking of his experience in communist Albania. His visit to the United States this November comes 63 years after the assassination of Kennedy in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.
Simoni said he holds no resentment toward those who persecuted him and his fellow Catholics. Earlier this year he returned to the prison where he was tortured and was able to celebrate Mass publicly.
"We are required to pray for every enemy, that God has mercy, to see them all in heaven, because Christ has shed his blood for us all,” he said.

The Christophobic ghoul prefers to kill babies rather than baptise them.
Former Irish President Mary McAleese is facing backlash over her new book, in which she criticises Catholic infant baptism, arguing that it violates babies' fundamental human rights by imposing religious membership without their consent.
Ironically, McAleese has also been a longstanding supporter of abortion access in Ireland, where unborn children can be killed in the womb without their consent.

One way to destroy capitalism, said Lenin, was to devalue its currency. Another way is to debase its language.
Socialists say “equality.” What they mean is “levelling down”.
Socialists say “publicly owned”. What they mean is “state controlled”.
Socialists say “government aid”. What they mean is “taxpayers' aid”.
Socialists say “social justice”. What they mean is “selective justice”.
Whenever we can, let us nail the truth to the door—and let us do it in unambiguous English.
Perhaps the pursuit of equality at any price does undermine liberty.
Perhaps people do want more choice, do want to own their own homes, and do want a greater say in their children's education.
This example should be followed in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, and all the other ex-communist Orthodox countries.
“The Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the state intelligence agency must be cleansed of Russian influence." — Slobodan Georgiev, News Director at Nova S TV.
Serbia’s own journalists are saying now what Ukraine knew all along: the Russian Orthodox Church isn’t about faith—it’s a front for the FSB and Kremlin spying.
With Vucic out of power, it’s clear: to truly be free, Serbia has to clean house and strip Russian influence out of both its secret service and its church.
“And the Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, that is, the continuity—why are they connected?
They are connected to the Kremlin, to the FSB, the KGB, the Okhrana, and so on. If we want the recovery of this country, as these children have been talking about all this time, if we want—if the three of us are alive in 20 years—not to be talking about it again, God forbid, "Here, here, another revolution again"—this, the BIA and the Synod must be cleansed of Russian influence. The Church is very important. It is the foundation of culture in Serbia, meaning the culture and life of Serbia is the church. If that, if that is controlled by the Russians from Lubyanka or whatever that place is called where that—that—that KGB guy lives... That's it, I mean, that's terrible. The BIA must, like RTS, be completely dismantled, disrupted.” Slobodan Georgiev said.

Congratulations to Lynne Pinches who has won a Bronze medal representing England at her second international call-up – the 2026 Blackball Pool World Championships.
It’s been quite a journey for Lynne who, in November 2023, boycotted the Women’s Champions of Champions Final after being drawn against a male in the female category. Lynne described the anguish of walking away from the sport she loves at the WRN Conference in July this year (link in the next post).
Since then, Lynne has been selected to represent England at the Commonwealth Cue Sports Championships in India earlier this month and this week she is a World Championships Bronze Medallist.
“For my first World Championships I couldn’t be happier,” said Lynne. “Playing amongst the best in the world and my son getting gold was such an emotional moment.”
The good kind of emotional moment! Well done to Lynne for persevering through the dark times and getting to the top table!
We look forward to seeing many more successes. 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

For heaven’s sake, stop being offended by absolutely everything and get on with living. Be yourself. Say what you think. Laugh at things that are funny, including yourself. Especially yourself, frankly. God knows there’s usually ample material.
In a hundred years, you’ll be dead. So will I. Nobody will remember what offended us, what opinion we held, or that someone on the internet called us a name. Your house will belong to somebody else, your possessions will be in a skip, an antique shop or gathering dust in a cupboard belonging to a stranger. And the world will carry on, entirely indifferent to our former existence.
We have a remarkably short time on this earth, yet we’ve somehow managed to turn it into an exhausting exercise in making sure nobody disapproves of us. We’re terrified of saying the wrong thing, laughing at the wrong joke or holding the wrong opinion, lest some complete stranger with the emotional resilience of a damp digestive biscuit should take offence. We’ve apparently mistaken being perpetually offended for having a personality. Good Lord.
Honestly, think about it. You are going to die. I am going to die. We’re all just temporarily upright collections of bones and bad decisions, pretending we have an eternity to get everything right. So why on earth are you wasting your precious time pretending to be someone you’re not to appease people who probably couldn’t pick you out of a police line-up, let alone remember your name in fifty years?
Think for yourself.
Have convictions.
Change your mind when you’re wrong.
Laugh at your own ridiculousness.
Say what you believe, and accept that some people will misunderstand you, disapprove of you or decide you’re an absolute bellend.
You might be. I certainly have my moments.
But at least have the courage to be an authentic bellend rather than spending your entire life as a carefully curated, socially approved version of somebody you don’t even recognise.
Because the real tragedy isn’t that you might offend someone. It’s that you reach the end of your life and realise you spent it worrying about what everybody else thought, whilst never quite finding the courage to be yourself.
And for what? A few approving nods from people who are going to die too?
Pfft!
Live. Laugh. Be honest. Be a little ridiculous. Stop taking yourself quite so seriously. You’re not here forever, darling. And frankly, even if you were, that would be pushing it. 🎩💜

I forget to dream.
Yesterday, Vince and I were working on installing a new axle on his truck. We had a couple of goals and we knew we kind of needed to button down and get as much done yesterday as we could.
There was this point where we were both leaning on the tailgate of the truck and talking about our most ambitious dreams for engine builds.
It might sound funny or strange, but all the sudden 45 minutes had passed.
I don’t know where the time went but at some point early on in the talk, I realized I had to put away our need to get something done and just soak in the moment
I was with one of my best friends, doing something we love to do.
It was a beautiful Michigan fall day and for a while, we just dreamt.
We were made to dream, I think.
Our busy schedules and the cacophony of voices telling us to be angry, to panic, to be afraid… all of it compel us to forget the important things in life.
We schedule our poor children to death.
We are demanded of by other others, and we demand of others.
We run from A to B, fulfilling imposed obligations.
In all of it, we forget to dream.
Scripture tells us “without a vision, people perish”.
Make a decision to waste time today.
You were made a human being, not a human doing.
Remember to dream.

Private screening of the film Zero A.D., produced by Eduardo Verástegui, in Rome. The film portrays everything that surrounded the birth of the Child Jesus in Bethlehem, which was far more turbulent than people usually think.
It will be in cinemas in December, and I highly recommend that you go and see it with your families.
