Fresh from the Adu’s Lab. Here, we highlight a striking mismatch between the food-security importance of root & tuber crops in sub-Saharan Africa & the research attention given to their root systems.
Perhaps it is time to look more closely belowground.

Presented at #Rhizosphere6 Edinburgh on root system (RSAs) research for SSA.
The paradox: 40% of SSA calories come from root & tuber crops (RTCS), yet these “root crops” have minimal RSAs research.
The “double neglect”: RTCs & its RSA’s are both are neglected. @UCCGH_Official
Tigernuts have numerous dietery & medicinal benefits, but it is neglected & underutilized. We are trying to change this status.
