80% of golf injuries are repetitive strain injuries (RSI).
20% everything else.
Strength training can reduce RSI by 50%
Plan accordingly.
A client sent me this yesterday. He has gone from 110mph-119mph with no speed training. Not bad for training 2x a week
In my opinion golfers training consists of far to much "specific" training rather than building robustness by building general physical qualities

@Miles_Collins now passed the @NSCA CPT & on course for his @UKSCA
For golfers having a fall back or side hustle is nothing to be ashamed of, pragmatic understanding is that only a tiny % actually make a career from it.

One of the golfers I’ve worked with for years and good friend @Miles_Collins saw the writing on the wall for this years satellite tours.
He made the bold decision to ask to join my team as a coach. The switch from implicit to explicit understanding has been a journey for him.

When golfers keep asking about “MAT that Bryson does”.
Lift.
Move.
Jump.
Throws.
Only MAT I’m interested in is Maybe Actually Train.

“There’s nothing particularly novel about how I train golfers to achieve high speeds. The biggest element is hands on barbells, craftsmanship mindset & nuance of actually training for strength and power. Something that can’t be taught on a 3 letter cert.”

We were doing so well until this point.
Anchoring effect yes ✅
Concerns about compound/barbell movements unfounded. ❌
Success leaves clues, they are not all universalisms.

16. Stick to the plan
At the gym, Bryson focuses on isolation exercises instead of compound movements like squats and deadlifts.
Gaining weight gives him stability on the course which has helped him increase his swing speed to 135mph and his ball speed to 200 mph.

Couldn’t resist not writing a little something about the stuff I’m reading on social media about how each and every golf course setup isn’t fair and bombers keep winning. So much more to it. Take the tinted historical glasses off and get with the times! The best will always win!
