just a regular person trying every ai tool that drops and telling you what actually works

every week a new ai tool drops and everyone loses their mind. i test them like someone who actually has to use them at work and in real life. 👀 ux teardowns 🔍 the workflow step the demo always skips ✅ tools worth using after week one 💬 honest takes when it breaks.

the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show moved to Los Angeles for the first time on Oct 18, with an all women performer lineup of Megan Moroney, Megan Thee Stallion, Tate McRae and KATSEYE. ten returning models, including Adriana Lima and Gigi Hadid, walked. the venue changed, the formula of music, models and a live stream stayed put.

openai says its frontier models and Codex workflows are coming to Google Cloud’s Model Garden in the coming weeks. if you use either side, the useful question is what changes for you on day one. check which models show up, whether Codex runs the same there as it does today, and how the billing appears on a Google Cloud invoice. one catalog with models from both companies is easy to like. the product still has to show which model you picked and what it cost before you commit a project to it aiweekly.co/alerts/openai-pu…

amazon’s new alexa tablets start at $229 and run full android with the google play store. that matters most if you owned a fire tablet. you are no longer limited to amazon’s app store to find the tool you want. before buying, check three things: which apps you actually use, whether alexa+ is included or needs a subscription, and how much storage the cheapest model has. a cheap tablet with every app available is only useful if the one you need runs well on it

ai has made work easier for me, but only because it fits into the flow
AI was supposed to make us work less I've never been this tired in my life most days I have up to 10 agents running at the same time. one fixing a bug, one writing pages, one refactoring something I already forgot I asked for, 3 other I have no idea what they are doing but i suppose i ask it? and I jump from conversation to conversation all day compared to 5 years ago, I probably context switch 100x more by the end of the day my brain is fried. completely toasted. nothing left, not even for the people I love I call it the fried brain effect thought it was just me but almost every founder I talk to lately says the exact same thing we got superpowers, and somehow the pressure only went up. if you can ship 10x more, you feel like you have to ship 10x more. every single day I don't have a solution honestly I have no idea where this goes from here anyone else feeling this?

apple’s HomeView identifies who approaches and changes the screen for them clever idea, but shared devices need an obvious guest mode if every useful screen depends on facial recognition, visitors and temporary users become a UX exception personalisation still needs an escape hatch

fall fashion finally remembered colors exist royal purple, emerald green, sapphire blue and ruby red are replacing the endless beige uniform if a full jewel tone outfit feels like too much, start with one red bag or purple knit tiny effort. instantly better.

Apple's first ad to make please do not put this in my house feel like the intended call to action.
This might be the first time I’ve ever watched an Apple ad that made me actively not want to buy the product

chatgpt can now let you try clothes on with a selfie. useful for narrowing down options before you buy. still not trusting it with fit, fabric quality or “does this look weird in daylight” though.

amazon bedrock managed agents is now in public preview, built to let teams deploy production-ready ai agents without losing enterprise controls. the useful part is not that it builds the agent. it is whether you can see what the agent decided, why it decided it, and where to step in when it goes wrong. the demo shows the agent completing the task. the missing step is always what happens when it completes the wrong one. riorundown.substack.com/p/tr…

feels like every time i understand one announcement, i’m already three behind.
just to recap how insane things are getting: - an 11 day old model just solved 100s of math problems in a week that have stumped humans for centuries - AI is one-shotting every game, tool and software threatening the value of private moats to $0 - AI agents are hitting escape velocity hacking everything in sight AND winning everyone’s attention (Muse #1 in app store) - the pace of new model releases has compressed to every 11 days - the most powerful models are increasingly living behind closed walls, accessible to a elite group - biological AI models are entering mainstream channels & will see a similar acceleration to Mathematics. - semiconductor chips are skyrocketing in costs, demand has exceeded several trillion dollars over the next 3 years. you can just feel the time-warp sucking you in, everything seems like a blur i truly don’t think we have enough time to comprehend all of this - it’s only going to get faster.

sounds promising but curious how much control teams get over what it remembers and can access.
Today at Google Cloud’s Gemini at Work event, we announced Gemini, a new single universal agent for work that has all of your business context and can be used for everything from knowledge work to answering questions, and content creation to coding, all from a single prompt box. It’s built around core architectural principles: ☑️ Unified Agent: Gemini can answer questions, do knowledge work and generate code from a single prompt box. ☑️Access: Gemini is web-based and can be accessed from any device and integrated into third-party applications. It can also operate without a dedicated user interface. ☑️Persistent Execution: It runs in the cloud, which means it maintains a single set of memories, context and one personalization graph no matter where you access it. ☑️Multi-Agent Orchestration: Gemini can create sub-agents to tackle multi-step tasks and can also act as a coworker agent with a defined role and its own dedicated identity ☑️Context: Gemini knows your tools, data, and work history and learns how you work the more you use it. ☑️Model Choice Flexibility: It orchestrates across multiple models to deliver optimal quality and lower your costs.

paris fashion week is giving us a reminder that fashion has two completely different economies now: runway looks people save for inspiration, and the “where is that jacket from?” search five minutes later. the second one is doing the work.

Myntra launched its biggest fashion sale today with AI stylist tools, personalised search and size and fit predictions. nice in theory. but when there are 8 million styles, “more relevant results” is not enough. the feature test here is does it reduce the 'i bought three sizes and returned two' problem or just help you add things to cart faster?

a few of iPhone 18 Pro Max owners on AT&T are learning the difference between prevention and repair. Apple says iOS 27.0.1 plus a carrier settings update can help stop the cellular failure from happening. however, if the phone is already stuck in SOS mode, the update will not restore it. the device needs to be replaced. that distinction should be the first sentence in every support message: still connected? update now. already disconnected? contact Apple or AT&T for a replacement. support UX matters most when the product cannot support its basic function.

Claude can now edit Google Docs, Sheets and Slides without making you copy everything into another tab. that is the obvious improvement. the better product decision is smaller: Ask before edits is the default. each change appears as an approval card before Claude touches the file. there is also an Accept all edits mode for people who want speed. same AI. two levels of trust. good AI UX does not force everyone into automation. it lets the user decide when assistance becomes permission. which mode would you actually use? claude.com/resources/article…
