OIL HAS JUST COLLAPSED NEARLY 20% THIS WEEK.
GOLD HAS SURGED BACK ABOVE $4,100.
THE DEMOCRATS HAVE WON BOTH THE HOUSE AND SENATE.
AND THERE IS STILL NO PEACE DEAL WITH IRAN.
I think there's something VERY important traders are overlooking right now.
The Democrats won the midterms on Tuesday.
But they don't actually take control of Congress until JANUARY 3.
That's almost TWO MONTHS away.
Trump is still commander-in-chief. He still has military options. And the negotiations with Iran are nowhere near a guaranteed agreement.
Yet look at what financial markets are doing.
Oil is getting absolutely hammered.
US Treasury yields are falling.
The dollar is weakening.
Gold is ripping higher.
And stocks have been rallying.
Why....
Because markets are starting to price a very different inflation outlook.
Lower oil means less pressure on petrol, transport and production costs.
Less inflation pressure means less reason for the Fed to keep raising interest rates.
And that potentially changes EVERYTHING for the dollar, gold and equities.
But here's what bothers me.
The market is already removing a massive amount of geopolitical risk from oil prices.
BEFORE THE GEOPOLITICAL RISK HAS ACTUALLY DISAPPEARED.
There is no signed peace agreement.
Trump still has military options.
And the Middle East remains incredibly fragile.
If negotiations collapse, the same risk premium that's being ripped out of oil could come straight back.
And then the entire inflation narrative changes again.
I'm watching oil and US yields VERY closely here.
Because the next big move in gold, the dollar and stock markets might have absolutely nothing to do with the next economic data release.
It might come down to what Trump does next.
And I don't think this story is anywhere near finished.
