I had high hopes for Sec Cardona when he was appointed. Sadly he’s been like a toxic positivity kinda guy since he started.
But this? He hit the mail on the head! Teachers are paid crap salaries because we’re not respected, & neither is anything related to education anymore!

It cannot be that teachers are worth nothing and simultaneously are the answers to everything. Stop demanding schools solve all of society's problems.
What a misogynist mess.

I'm surprised that so many people think caring for students and creating a positive learning environment means that educators are not focused on academic success. They actually go hand in hand. Students learn better in positive and safe spaces & with people who care about them.

Just 6 yrs ago I gained the strength to share my immigrant story.
Ss don't have to wait till they're adults to realize the power our story holds - provide spaces & time for stories to shine. #storiesMatter

I’d argue that this is why we need more teachers that are bilingual or former ELs!

Instead of hosting a birthday fundraiser this year, I'm asking people to help #clearthelist for my ESOL class. I'd like to use these things with my K-8 kids to not only teach them English skills but also help them develop a love of reading... 1/2
a sense of pride in their cultures, & an understanding of the power of diversity, inclusion, and justice.
Anything you purchase will directly benefit my blossoming bilinguals! Please help if you can! #clearthelist 2/2

🙌 Students who have IEPs do not belong to special education. They are general education students. ALL students belong to ALL of us. #LeadInclusion#successforall#edchat #teachers #teachertwitter #teach

Education talks about potential all the time.
Its root word is 'potens' meaning power.
If children have no power or voice in school, they are not achieving their potential even when they achieve top marks Same for our teachers.
Control does not release potential.

Teachers:
It is okay to be excited about the upcoming school year.
It is also okay not to be.
