NB #delirium, reduced mobility, & falls can be presenting features of #COVID19. Very important esp at the front door as often fever, dyspnoea, cough missing.
#frailty presentations common in older people with #COVID, even in absence of cardinal features. medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

#Delirium & #frailty predict worse functional outcomes in #COVID19 patients at 4 weeks. Important, because delirium affects likely >25% of older pts with COVID19. medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Does your country have standards for #hipfracture care? England & Ireland have Best Practice Tariffs (BPTs): meeting these means the hospital gets paid more. From this useful review: doi.org/10.1016/j.bjae.2020.… @BJAJournals #delirium #perioperativemedicine

Horrifying: patients given haloperidol for #delirium (mostly useless / harmful anyway) often have it prescribed as a discharge drug. Have you seen this in your practice? ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3194…

If you were out & about early this morning, you might have seen Janie & Keith Stewart litter-picking the Rigg Rd. 30 sacks and they’re still not done. We all need to look after our countryside ... we enjoy it more than ever just now. Take your litter home @EastAyrshire

This is why I’m so proud to work for @CHSScotland - supporting ppl like David is why we exist. Our staff & volunteers are doing this across Scotland while we fight to maintain our income. If you can donate anything at all please do. David knows how valuable that contribution is.

I would recommend giving blood. Did it last week. Best night out for ages. Saw real people and talked with them. Plus a Tunnocks caramel wafer #GiveBlood

As the curve is flattening we are beginning to see more atypical symptoms of COVID-19 specifically in older adults we are seeing some atypical presentation of covid - presenting as #delirium without cough and fever. This is going to be the invisible giant impacting on recovery
