Researching 18 Allied soldiers from WW2 held as PoWs in a small shed in Normandy & delivering talks far & wide about them. Some say that it should be a book!

In what has increasingly become a post-Normandy research visit tradition, we are once again refreshing at @thebathams home at The Vine, Brierley Hill aka #BullAndBladder Shakespeare quotations and all. As usual, beer is on top form as are the cobs

Another successful research trip to Normandy, celebrated with a beer & food at another great Black Country pub. This time, we've chosen The Great Western, Wolverhampton

And, of course, beer was involved... On this occasion @holdensbrewery #Mild and #Bitter, both on excellent form

And finished off with some #ProperStodge... Pudding of #SpottedDickandCustard... Real suet based variant... Yum!Yum!

For every retweet of this post, I will donate £1 to the @VC_and_GC_Assoc up to £50,000. Time is running out following @I_W_M’s decision to close the Lord Ashcroft Gallery. Visit while you still can, to honour the bravery of those who risked so much to protect our great nation.

In what is beginning to appear to be a tradition, we are back at @thebathams #Vine #BullandBladder at the end of another successful research trip into the 18 PoWs that we are researching

Those things that you wonder... A couple of years ago when we visited @thebathams after #Normandy #Research visit, a post was commented upon by @DavidBrunt11 - the son of one of the PoWs that we are researching - nothing since. Are you still out there David, or does anyone know?

Can tell we're back from another #Normandy trip & pression beers... @thebathams #Mild... Absolutely on form. Sadly, the liquid won't remain in that glass too long 😂

Would be interested to know who at @CWGC decided to exclude Operation BLUECOAT, the two Isolated Graves near Caumont and St Charles de Percy CWGC Cemetery. Appalling ommission @6thGUARDS_TNK @ReassessHistory @musee44

Another part of French TV reportage this morning... Excitable French lady reporter taking off in a "Grasshopper" (US Air observation aircraft), flying over wide open fields & talking about the "Bocage below"... Even our French host exclaimed "That's not Bocage!" 😂

Largely good AI animation of assault (looks like based on Saving Private Ryan) but learned something new... Low flying aircraft attacking beaches in support of assault... Just didn't realise that B17s were that agile 🤣🤣🙄🙄

French TV reportage just repeated the claim of 90% first wave on #Omaha kia. Also gone through early timings & excluded fact that Brit airborne landed just after midnight. On a positive, they are keeping Beevoir away from Brit TV 😂 sure that @ReassessHistory will appreciate that

Just watching DDay reportage on French TV. Nice to see that they have the same live TV issues that we have in the UK... Dodgy connections & outside reporters like "nodding donkeys" before they start speaking 🤣🤣 Coverage is, however, pretty good. Hope it's as good back home

Getting ready for #DDay80 trip back to Normandy with maps & notes. Meeting lots of friends, commemorations and research including photos needed for #3BnScotsGuards battlefield tour at end of July around Estry & Chenedolle as well as sequel to #DebutAtCaumont book

After this morning's visit to the @UkNatArchives I'll be heading over to Normandy again. Interesting room number last night #IfYouKnowYouKnow

I've acquired this 43 Wessex Division pennant - AFAIK WW2 origin. Question is who would have been driven in a vehicle flying it? Div Comder or anyone else? Getting it mounted for display by thehill112.com/ for fundraising. @James1940 @ReassessHistory @ArmySWcomd
