All together, a pathway like corn ethanol-to-jet starts from a high EF using default assumptions (even with the lower ILUC factor)--about an 18% reduction from the fossil baseline or 30% with CSA's. But there are many opportunities to use CCS, RE or RNG to reduce direct emissions

Soy oil and other HEFA pathways fare better--they qualify using default assumptions--and have opportunities to reduce their CI further. Soy oil in particular benefits from mass allocation in the direct LCA--a departure from energy allocation under CORSIA

NEW: Documents and recordings obtained by @ariellesamuel detail a multi-million dollar plan by the propane lobby to spin propane - a fossil fuel - as "clean" and "renewable" Read our investigation co-published today with the @guardian: heated.world/p/the-propane-i…

"Moo hydrogen" lives on in CARB's proposal for the LCFS revision. Loose, book-and-claim accounting for a dairy manure offset paired with bog standard gray hydrogen (to the tune of $5/kg) lives on till deliverability requirements kick in *squints*... in 2045

If the Administration allows for dairy biogas book-and-claim to count for hydrogen production, i.e., "Moo hydrogen" as in California, it would undermine a lot of the good will on electricity additionality. It's essentially gray hydrogen paired with a carbon offset.
If the rumors are true, then US Treasury is about to release rules requiring strong guardrails on subsidies for hydrogen made with electricity. But there's another section of the rules that could make or break the entire American clean hydrogen project: their handling of RNG

Read more here about California's situation. It is much easier and more valuable in California or a gray hydrogen producer using natural gas to purchase the rights to avoided manure methane somewhere else in the country. Let's not repeat that federally. theicct.org/lcfs-hydrogen-cr…
