The National Internal Security Conference officially opened today in Mogadishu and will run from 1–2 September 2026. The conference provides an important national platform for government institutions, security agencies, and key stakeholders to come together and discuss the priorities, challenges, and opportunities related to Somalia’s internal security. The conference will focus on strengthening internal security, enhancing coordination and cooperation among security institutions, and accelerating collective efforts to ensure the safety and security of the country and its people. Strong internal security is essential for peace, stability, development, and the protection of citizens and their communities. Effective coordination among security institutions is equally important to ensure a unified and strategic approach to addressing security challenges and responding to emerging threats. The conference also provides an opportunity to review progress and achievements in strengthening internal security, share experiences and lessons learned, identify key priorities, and develop practical approaches for improving the effectiveness and coordination of Somalia’s security institutions. Through dialogue, collaboration, and a shared commitment to national security, the conference aims to contribute to building stronger, more coordinated, and more effective security institutions capable of protecting the Somali people and supporting lasting peace and stability across the country. #NationalInternalSecurityConference #MoIS #Somalia #InternalSecurity #Security #Peace #Stability
