Nike had a deal to kit Nigeria's Super Eagles in 2018, and then they decided to collaborate with Wizkid to promote the kits alongside Alex iwobi and other Super Eagle players.
In order for Wizkid to promote the kits, they had to create special super eagle jerseys having Wizkid's STARBOY logo across the chest.
The Jerseys were released on the 10th of September 2018, via Nike's site. They were priced at $84. Lo and behold, it sold out in 10 minutes. That rapid sell out was because of Wizkid's influence.
That collaboration marked Wizkid as the first African artist to have a Nike jersey line, and since then no other African artist has been able to recreate.

βBefore Mohbadβs death, 30BG and the Marlians clashed at a house party, where the Marlians beat up members of 30BG, sparing only Davido. 30BG vowed to retaliate. Then, after Mohbad died, they called Naira Marley and gave him 24 hours to hand over Mohbadβs catalogue or face the consequences. This is how demonic the 30BG crew are they were never after #justiceforMohbadβ

- Artists had to be REALLY talented to get their music across Africa and the rest of the world before the streaming era.
- No Spotify, no Apple Music, no TikTok. Fans had to download songs manually from blogs, share files via Bluetooth/Xender and buy physical CDs.
- Breaking through required genuine talent, hit records and serious cultural impact. π
Salute to the pioneers who took Afrobeats to the world before the world was even listening. ππ½ π

Yβall need to make peace with the fact Wizkid might not like attending Award ceremonies.
Wizkid has not attended any Award ceremony since his appearance at The Headies Awards in 2021 and even that event, Headies Organizers had to send a Private Jet to pick him up in Ghana.
He has won 6 MOBO Awards and he has never received the award in person on stage, he wasnβt present the night he was the most prestigious music award βGrammyβ, he wasnβt present when he won VMA, AMA, SoulTrain, NAACP Awards.
Made In Lagos and Essence won over 20 Awards and he was never present to receive any of these Awards in person.
Itβs not gimmick, thatβs who he is or who he has become, make peace with it and leave him alone.
