🚨 5 TACTICAL PROBLEMS WITH STARTING NICO PAZ AND ARDA GÜLER TOGETHER THAT NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT.
People see two talented creators and immediately assume Real Madrid will become unstoppable. But football is not about collecting talented players. It is about making their qualities work together.
Here is where the danger lies:
✅ 1. TOO MANY PLAYERS WANT THE SAME SPACES. Both thrive in central attacking areas. If they constantly move into the same pockets, Madrid risk overcrowding the middle while leaving other attacking zones underused.
✅ 2. WHO PROVIDES THE DEFENSIVE BALANCE? When both push forward, Madrid need disciplined midfielders behind them to protect against counterattacks. Without that protection, opponents can exploit the space left behind.
✅ 3. WHO CONTROLS THE TEMPO? Creativity is not the same as midfield control. Madrid still need someone who can dictate the rhythm, resist pressure and connect the defence to the attack consistently.
✅ 4. THE RIGHT WING BECOMES A TACTICAL PROBLEM. If Güler drifts inside and Paz also moves centrally, Madrid need genuine width from the right. Otherwise, opponents can compress the middle and make their attacking play predictable.
✅ 5. THEIR TALENTS COULD CANCEL EACH OTHER OUT. Instead of giving both players freedom to influence games, the system could force one into an unnatural role or make both less effective. Two excellent footballers do not automatically create one excellent partnership.
THE SOLUTION IS NOT NECESSARILY TO BENCH ONE OF THEM. IT IS TO BUILD THE RIGHT STRUCTURE AROUND THEM.
One could operate between the lines while the other contributes from a deeper position, provided Madrid have the defensive cover, width and movement to make it work.
Madrid do not need to choose between talent and balance. They need both.
