Faith can be embodied in all cultures, because it does not identify itself with any of them in a specific one. It dwells within them, shaping them from within according to the “form” of Jesus Christ; that is, through charity, service and the filial recognition of God’s fatherhood. In this way, the Church draws from the various cultures all that is good, beautiful and true, in order to embody and transmit the message of the Gospel. #GeneralAudience

John Atkinson Grimshaw is famous for his nocturnes ~ here’s his ‘Moonlight on the Lake, Roundhay Park, Leeds’ (1872). I’m admiring the subtle reflections in the calm water, the shimmering effect of the moonlight and even the wetness of the path

“The catalyst for ‘Don’t Give Up’ was a photograph I saw by Dorothea Lange (Migrant Mother), in the book ‘In This Proud Land’, which showed the dust-bowl conditions during the Great Depression in America. Without a climate of self-esteem it’s impossible to function” - pg
Don't Give Up was released 40 years ago #onthisday as the second single from Peter's album 'So'. It features the guest vocals of Kate Bush.

This 1922 first-thus edition gathers twenty-five Grimm tales into one wonderfully inviting book. R. Emmett Owen’s lively pen-and-ink drawings carry the stories along, while two colour plates by John B. Gruelle add their own gentle touch. Still in its bright red cloth with gilt and a mounted colour illustration, it’s the sort of old fairy-tale book that feels instantly at home on a collector’s shelf.
