I’m very proud of the @Ripple C++ team for contributing code to rippled that slashes memory usage by 50%!

Experimental implementation of C++ pattern matching (wg21.link/P1371) is available on Compiler Explorer!
A silly fizz buzz example: godbolt.org/z/fdd5j4
Thank you to @brunosy for the on-going implementation work and @lenary for the Compiler Explorer deployment.

I've been a @newegg customer for a long time; never had a problem, but they dropped the ball today by refusing to RMA a $1,000 DOA item because I accidentally discarded the original packaging.
They are following their policy which is OK but policies should have some flexibility.

If you don’t know why this email by @Equifax is inappropriate and tone-deaf, take a look at @briankrebs’ excellent reporting: krebsonsecurity.com/?s=equif…
Check out what I just received from @Equifax. 🤯
Hey @AskEquifax: do you think offering this sort of product, to say nothing of charging for it, is even remotely appropriate in the wake of the massive leak of people’s sensitive information your ineptitude resulted in?

How you know you’re old: the “Introduction to Algorithms” book was published this month nearly 30 years ago, in 1990. It’s sold half a million copies & is the world’s most cited CS text w/9K citations: bit.ly/2Fyhjmd

But considering every third paper had huge caveats (never implemented, modified in the fly, etc), this is also a reminder: good engineering happens when releases are constant and nobody is rushing for an arbitrary deadline.

Being dark and curmudgeonly, I suspect some fascinating mistakes were made this week in the name of shipping C++ on a 3 year cycle. I won't point fingers for a while though, it's certainly more important to celebrate the LARGE advances, most of which are strongly positive.

A really cool memory allocation technique similar to compaction but for C. Mesh by @emeryberger and co. Great visual representation of the technique as well! arxiv.org/abs/1902.04738

Hey @github. I’d love to migrate away from JIRA and use only GitHub Issues and Projects, but having the ability to create security-sensitive issues that are only visible to maintainers (pending a fix) is an absolute must.
Is such a feature on the roadmap?
