You do have a constituency called Arbroath and Broughty Ferry to look after, just letting you know…
Today I was denied entry into the West Bank, alongside other parliamentary colleagues from across Europe as part of a @ProgIntl delegation.
We were held for 8 hours, interrogated and ultimately prevented from crossing the border.
I came to stand alongside Palestinians being attacked for harvesting olives on their own land. Instead, we were turned away, with no reason given.
More than ever, Palestinians are being subject to terror and violence by the IDF and illegal settlers. Increased blockades, demolitions and unthinkable violence have become the norm for Palestinians in the West Bank.
It is more important now than ever that we bear witness and show our solidarity.
But we were prevented from doing so.
I will continue to do everything I can to apply pressure on the Netanyahu government, and those responsible for the persecution and genocide of the Palestinian people.

A stunning number of Americans seem to think that an American passport gives them the right to go and live anywhere, and that illegal immigration is just something Mexicans do

If anyone thinks that Angela Rayner would make a good PM please watch this interview with the superb @afneil - spoiler, she doesn’t have a clue.
Serendipity! Wanted to see the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, and happened to notice there was the final of a cello competition this afternoon. Marvellous.
Hurrah! After 15 years of visiting Japan, I manage to find the exit I need out of Shinjuku station, first go. Dante’s circles of Hell have nothing on this place. The world’s busiest railway station: 3.8 million passengers a day.

Reporter: No one says that. 😂😂😂
The Helsinki Philharmonic and Jukka-Pekka Saraste were in town, but unfortunately my time didn’t quite coincide. I’ll have to make do with their recent Sibelius set which I bought.

Dawn Butler makes a powerful point about inherited debts being owed by the modern generation. I'd like to thank her for this.
It today's terms freeing the slaves cost around £17Billion (using GDP values) on top of which Royal Navy deployments for the 60 years or so they were active in hunting down the slaves ships and disrupting the slave trade cost the UK another £30Billion to £50Billion at today's value (again using GDP values).
Using the figures above we get a sum of between £47Billion and £67Billion that Black Britains and Black people from the former Empire owe the UK Treasury. And this is before any calculation is considered for the compensation to the families of the 17,000 sailors who died on these operations.
Having explained so cogently why this sum should be paid I look forward to @DawnButlerBrent's suggestions as to a payment plan.
This is great. Purified ice cold water or 100°, delivered instantly.
I must admit I’ve never been quite the same about hotel kettles after reading that some guests might boil their “smalls” in them to clean!
