NEWS: A Texas driver has been charged with manslaughter after his Tesla crashed into a home and killed a grandmother, prosecutors say
Michael Butler, 44, is charged over the June 19 crash in Katy that killed Martha Avila, 76.
Butler told police the car was driving itself. Investigators dispute that.
The charging document states the accelerator was "pressed all the way down to 100%," overriding FSD.
The Tesla hit 73 mph on a residential street and never braked.
Investigators found no mechanical fault and ruled out any seizure, stroke or heart attack.
His phone allegedly held May searches complaining that Tesla FSD was not aggressive enough.
Butler has not entered a plea. The victim's family is also suing Tesla, claiming its FSD was defective.
