Is there a German word for the feeling you get when people skip church to watch the football and Liverpool lose 3-0 to Man City?

After the Green Party's "Zionism is Racism" vote, the Leader of Haringey Council, which is controlled by the Greens, wrote to various Synagogues in the borough to "reassure" them. I want to show you Highgate Synagogue's reply. I believe it is worth reading in its entirety.

Liverpool politicians get free parking while residents lose it after 6 PM. A Lib Dem council would scrap politician perks and restore resident parking. Citizens first, not politicians. #Liverpool #LocalPolitics #Parking

Why our council tax went up and the council imposing ruinous parking charges in the evening: to spaff money on more empty office space. @CllrNickSmall @angelalabour
🏗️ Liverpool is backing the Pall Mall development to unlock jobs, attract investment and deliver the city’s first Grade A office scheme in the commercial district for 16 years. The project will help meet growing demand for high-quality workspace and boost confidence in Liverpool’s economy. 📈 Read more: media.liverpoolexpress.co.uk…

School leaders have ALWAYS had to make difficult decisions about closing in exceptional circumstances (eg snowfall/ice/heating failures/water supply issues/illness outbreaks). So why was there such a vitriolic response to last week's heat-wave closures? 1/🧵

I voted @LibDems for my whole adult life until they jumped so entirely onto this bandwagon. Never again.
The new EHRC Code of Practice is not fit for purpose. It does not provide clear guidance, it does not do enough to protect everyone from discrimination and harassment and it is not compatible with longstanding British values. @EdwardJDavey and Marie Goldman have written to Bridget Phillipson. ⬇️

Luckily for Alice's thesis there have been no non religious movements enforcing Orthodoxy through violence in the last century. If there were this would be embarrassing nonsense.

J.D. Vance in April 2025: “I think a lot of European nations were right about our invasion of Iraq. Frankly, if the Europeans had been a little more independent, and a little more willing to stand up, then maybe we could have saved the entire world from the strategic disaster that was the American-led invasion of Iraq…I don’t want the Europeans to just do whatever the Americans tell them to do. I don’t think it’s in their interest, and I don’t think it’s in our interests, either.” unherd.com/2025/04/transcrip…

I would like to ask my non-Iranian followers to spread the news of Iran more than previous days🙏 Today, many Iranian accounts don't have access to the internet to spread the word . We need help of the international community 🇮🇱🇺🇸 Khamenei is pure evil.
Today, in a speech, Khamenei waged an absolute war against Iranian protesters, calling our warriors "agitators" for whom there would be no forgiveness. He orders to oppress Iranian people.

Oh my goodness please teach some basic epistemology to people who are going to publicly opine about things like this.

“China first” is not a Christian value. “Nigeria first” is not a Christian value. “America first” is not a Christian value. “England first” is not a Christian value. Christians are members of a global, blood-bought, multi-ethnic kingdom. And our allegiance is to a global God, not a tribal deity.

Regardless of your opinions on abortion or lobsters, we've got a situation where lobster sentience & consciousness is more fundamental to policy-making than the sentience of a full term baby. Why we need more philosophers in Government. Someone let me to write about this.
What is the philosophically consistent argument to make boiling lobsters alive illegal on the basis of sentience, but making it legal to 'abort' a fully sentient baby <1 minute from birth? I know philosophy in politics isn't trendy, but it is fundamental to policy like this
