Useful. You should read it.
Technical SEO is usually straightforward: fix site speed, mobile, crawlability. But edge cases are where real ranking improvements hide. I've found 6 technical issues affecting 10-40% of sites. Nobody talks about them. Here's the breakdown: 🧵👇

An opportunity for analysis and evaluation. Let's take a look!
MOST IMPORTANT SEO FACTORS FOR 2026 IMO These are the things I focus on. Not everything here is a ranking "factor" but may have an influence on rank. These are things I cover specifically. ➪ DOCUMENT (URL) ACCESSIBILITY → Can search engines / bots / llms access your content → Can the resources for the document rendering be accessed → Are there sufficient internal links between URLS → Are navigation links in origin DOM without JS → Are directives properly set → Is robots.txt HTTP 200 and accessible? → How much of the page content is interactive with JS i.e BTN elements ➪ DOCUMENT (URL) RENDERING → Can search engines / bots render the full document → What is in the original rendered DOM vs JS rendered DOM → What is the text output of DOM vs fully rendered DOM → Is the output rendered server side (SSR) or client side (CSR) → What does the output look like in GSC URL inspection → What does the output look like to LLMS or non-rendering agents ➪ DOCUMENT (URL) DEMONSTRATED USER BEHAVIOUR → What does click behaviour look like in comparison to similar URLS → What is the typical click pattern (good click/bad click) → Navboost (C-R-A-P-S) → User scroll & interaction behaviour → Content coverage vs interaction time → Session ends vs repeated search or POGO → Repeat & direct visits → Branded searches ➪ DOCUMENT (URL) QUALITY → Does the content meet end user needs (intent) → Does the content meet criteria for YMYL/E-E-A-T → How fresh is the content & when was it last updated → Content initial opening - clearly stating what's on offer → Content information prioritisation → Content NLP & topical coverage → Content fact / source citations → Content structuring & readability → Content tone of voice, writing style, perspective, sentiment → Content consistency i.e. no conflicting statements → Content clarity → Content sub-linking & sub link relevance → Knowledgegraph / Entity mapping → E-E-A-T sub-criteria (author, byline, citations, sources, establishment) → YMYL sub-criteria (regulatory, compliance, safety etc) → Content unique added value (beyond what exists) → Content media embeddings (engagement) ➪ DOMAIN (AGGRRGATED URL) QUALITY → Sum of overall domain content performance → Sum of aggregated NAVBOOST / click performance data → Sum of overall site quality score → Sum of quality click signals → Strength of external referring domains → Distribution of PageRank to URLS on domain → Overall trust indicators (brand, links, reviews, searches, sentiment) → Quality of overall index ➪ REDUCTION IN NON-VALUE CONTENT → Reduction in Crawled / Discovered currently not indexed → Management and elimination of non value pages → Consolidation of similar URLS → Reduction & elimination of canonical reliance → Proper management of parameterised URLS → Reduction of aged dead pages / stagnant pages → Optimisation of crawl budget ➪ DOMAIN/SITE BEHAVIOUR → Patterns of new content availability i.e. mass content production → Consistency of new link inflow → Changes in external links or anchors → Domain consolidations → Sudden inflows of new URLS → Notable content quality changes #seo

25 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT LOCAL SEO Your Google Business Profile rankings matter more than your website rankings. The number one ranking factor for the map pack is review count. Reviews from the last 90 days carry the most weight. The answer to "how many reviews do I need" is more than every competitor in your area. An exact match business name is the closest thing to a cheat code in this game. Google is a relevance machine. Correct category, physical address, consistent citations, regular updates, and high review velocity make up 90% of the algo. Your GBP category should match your highest revenue service and the category of the businesses ranking in the top 3. Trying to rank a GBP without a verified address is a waste of time in almost every market. Stop trying to rank one page for every city you serve. Each service area needs its own dedicated page. Location pages need to actually be localized. City swap content does not work anymore. Your homepage meta title should never say "Home". Put the keyword and the city in it. Front load the keyword in your meta title. Terms at the front carry more weight. Your H1 tag should include the keyword and the location. Not your slogan. URLs should tell Google exactly what a page is about. /dallas-roof-replacement beats /services every time. Do not write blog posts. You want buyers on your site, not browsers. Backlinks are the currency of the internet. With AI pumping out infinite content, links are how Google separates real from fake. The best links come from your own backyard. Chambers, sponsorships, suppliers, local charities. Ignore the DR and take the link. 80 to 90% of your links should point to the homepage with branded anchor text. It looks the most natural because it is. Exact match anchor text will wreck your site. Branded anchors win. Citations still matter. Real businesses have listings on Yelp, BBB, YellowPages, and Uber. Google checks. NAP consistency is not optional. Same name, address, and phone number everywhere, including your website footer. Google has 200+ ranking factors but 8 to 10 of them make up 95% of the results. Do not major in the minors. Most technical SEO is irrelevant for local businesses. Indexing and 404 errors are the only two things worth checking. Ranking difficulty has nothing to do with city size or how expensive your service is. It is determined entirely by how seriously your competitors take SEO. AI search pulls straight from Google Business Profiles and reads your reviews. Go all in on the GBP for Google AI Mode. Build links for ChatGPT and Claude. Every GBP update you post should include the keyword and the location. Every single time.

PSA for Ecommerce Stores: the Content API will be deprecated on August 19th (5 weeks from today). If you're still reliant on the Content API and haven't migrated to the Merchant API by then, you'll be in for a shock once your ads/free listings halt overnight. If your store is reliant on an API, here is the best way to check whether you're going to be impacted: 1. Login to Google Merchant Center 2. Navigate to the Add-ons tab in Settings 3. Enabled 'API diagnostics' 4. Review the 'API version' column in the report to see what you're currently reliant on and for which 'method' Within this report, you're able to see the number of API calls and for which method, so that gives you an idea of how important the dataset is for product generation. If you're seeing 'Content API' being used for an important source – don't leave it until the last minute to have discussions around plans for migrating to the Merchant API approach. Make sure to spread the word and make your fellow eCommerce friends aware of this change!

Google is quietly giving away one of the most powerful AI tools ever built. For free. Most people have never heard of it. It's called NotebookLM. It reads your PDFs, articles, YouTube videos, Google Docs, slides, and ebooks then lets you ask it questions, generate reports, create podcasts, build presentations, and produce study guides from your own sources. Not from the internet. Not from its training data. From your actual documents. Zero hallucinations on your material. Every answer cites the exact source. Every claim is traceable. A researcher who's used it since beta told me: "NotebookLM replaced my $200/month AI stack. It does deep research, report generation, audio summaries, and flashcard creation from my own files. It's the tool Google should be charging $50/month for. They're charging $0." Here are 9 features that make NotebookLM the most underused AI tool of 2026 🧵
