I don't have a poignant joke for the day, but i do have a poignant sponsor.

And a few other sponsorships (and an oddball) that i just find lightly amusing.

Maserati had big plans for the 1990s, one of them being the creation of a supercar. And so they tried, with the 1990 Maserati Chubasco, an strangely ambitious, V8-powered idea that, as usual, would not be even close to production.

...another little-known #Lotus 'M' prototype was the M300, devised ~1988 as a range-topping, 200mph supercar. It would use a Cadillac Northstar V8 and carbon fibre construction, but lacking funding it stayed only a large-scale model revealed by designer 📸 Peter Stevens in 2014.

You might know of the Matra Murena, a french 3-seater, mid-engined sports car powered by 1.6 and 2.2-liter engines. But today i give the spotlight to the mouthful that is the Matra Sports Murena MS81 Prototype, a development mule fit with the brand's 3-liter Formula 1 engine.

And now we reach the most important detail: this was a double study, with the left half (when seen from the front) centering on a road-going model, while the right half centered on a race-oriented one. Needless to say, the project would not go farther than what i've shown.

Its assumed that this was the doing of Matra's owners at the time, Peugeot (which, judging by the time and place in which the project was happening, is no surprise).

The 1924 Alfa Romeo RM Four-Wheel Drive Half-Track was a winter-ready version of the RM, produced from 1923 to 1925. Powered by a 2.0-liter engine with 40-48 PS, it featured rear tracks for snowy terrains, and one example still exists today.

I come back to you today with the 2nd (somewhat long, somewhat late) part of the development story of the Ford GT90, so... well, lets just get to it:
A project meant to carry an incredible weight upon its shoulders, developed in what amounted to the blink of an eye... Of course, i'm talking of the Ford GT90, an ambitious (but in the end severely undercooked) project meant to herald a new era of automotive design for the brand.

The GT90 would tour Goodwood in 2008 and 2009, and the talks between Hajek and Ford would concrete around 2012. Hajek went on to restore the car slightly (although there wasn't that much to be done, as enough care was put into the GT90 for it to remain operational).

And as you might know, the car now resides in the Hajek Motorsports Museum, located in the small town of Ames, Oklahoma (and i should add that the GT90 made an act of presence in the Petersen Automotive Museum this year, because, i just thought you might want to know that).
