Shatner is a class act.
I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

She founded Beira's Place, a women-only centre in Edinburgh for survivors of sexual violence. She has funded legal fights to protect women's rights and women-only spaces. And she has given a voice to women who were too scared to speak.
For that she has faced years of death threats, rape threats and torture threats.
She hasn't flinched once.

The NYT continues to accept the framing of the transgender rights movement as a civil rights cause rather than the medical scandal, scientific fraud, and cannibalistic raid on the rights of other groups that it is.
Despite this, the paper is routinely blamed by the trans rights establishment for the many political and legal setbacks it has faced for having done nothing other than covering in a fairly cursory fashion the absence of any real evidence behind the claim that pediatric gender medicine is evidence-based.
There is something to this ascription of responsibility to the Times because even one deviation, however perfunctory, from the script threatens to expose the endemic fraud at the foundation of the entire edifice.
The blame directed at the Times exhibits a realistic understanding that the movement is not a movement like other movements that can withstand adversarial scrutiny along some dimensions: like the actual people caught up in its dogmas, it is either the subject of uncritical affirmation at all times, or it is simply a thing pretending to be something it is not, spouting easily debunked falsehoods upon which everything depends requiring total loyalty at all times to prevent reality from entering the picture and exposing the foundational debility of all its claims.
I have never seen the @nytimes report on suspected billing fraud or breaking of the state laws restricting puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, or surgery (in children). I have never seen investigations from the Times like these from @LeorSapir

George Orwell, in April 1945, was discussing how otherwise intelligent, seemingly reasonable people could accept demonstrably false accusations about Jews.
He described people who insisted that their hostility toward Jews was based on objective observations rather than prejudice.
He then wrote:
“Yet one of the marks of antisemitism is an ability to believe stories that could not possibly be true.”

You’re not just asking women “not to harass you.”
You’re a male person essentially insisting that it’s totally fine for you to regularly violate female single-sex boundaries, just because you wish you were born female yourself (or at least think you do). You & other MtFs like you have zero regard for the fact that the vast majority of women are deeply uncomfortable when visibly male people enter female-specific spaces.
Women & girls are socially conditioned to be experts at hiding our discomfort around male strangers, and to prioritize getting out when possible. Many transwomen think our silence when they use female spaces means we’re comfortable with their presence. We’re not.
You dismiss women who want to retain access to female-only spaces as “transphobic TERFs”, but in reality, most of us are just women who are saying “NO” when male people like you enter female spaces, & co-opt female-specific language like “lesbian” without our consent.
It’s common for males to receive a woman’s “no” as a sign to start negotiating, and that’s exactly what males like you are doing when you enter female spaces on the basis of self-identifying as “transwomen”, and then proceed to TOTALLY DISMISS every single woman who expresses discomfort with that as a so-called “TERF.”
It doesn’t work like that anymore.

As local journalists report escalating violence across Paris and the rest of France, we urge all parties to exercise restraint and engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at securing an immediate ceasefire. The events of October 17 did not happen in a vacuum!
Should France fail to guarantee the safety of the brave freedom fighters taking over its streets, we might consider imposing targeted sanctions on wine and cheese from areas of Paris where they face repression.
