It was 4am, I was jetlagged and trying to figure out how to think about what AI is doing to gaming. So I wrote this (cc @deantak @alexleewastaken who might have views).
The three best ideas to improve air travel:
1. Supersonic
2. Starlink
3. Stock a bunch of Aeropress brewers
We need a category for all these emerging UGC platforms like @spawn @RemixGG_ @BitmagicAI @PlayAstrocade @Rosebud_AI @TesanaAI. NewGC? Vibe Generated Content (VGC)? @BrendanStock @chrisheatherly
This remains one of the best summaries of how gaming is having its Napster moment. I'm still not convinced that it will lead to major new platforms (although definitely lots of v interesting new niche platforms) but it's certainly shifting power to creators and communities in a way we've never seen before (h/t @rrhoover)
I think it’s more likely to set up a machine to acquihire the hundreds of small ai consulting and training across Europe.
Anthropic is launching a European consultancy that:
"will embed AI consultants and engineers into European businesses"
It will launch by the end of this year with hubs in London and Berlin.
A large proportion of the UK economy is based on professional services / consultancies.
Anthropic is swooping in to gobble it up.

We started Chartis with one simple question: “How do we help UEFN creators become successful.”
We’ve had quite the past 3 years, working closely with creators big and small, from @BirdoBro and @dagwummy -shoutout GDC 2024- to @FeRinS_FN @HazeCoding @TeraCreators , @ChitaZ , @ManuA12, and @jaythofficial just to name a few of the 150+ creators I get to spend every day with.
But the stakes have changed. AI is opening up exponential possibilities for creators on Fortnite and Roblox, but also new entrants like Google Playground, Spawn, and Astrocade.
We’ve bootstrapped Chartis for close to three years, and now the opportunity to help hundreds of thousands of new creators be more successful means we need to scale and accelerate.
We’re taking investment from @MrDylanCollins , Maximilian Bleyleben, and their Attention Holdings vehicle to 1000x what we’re already doing.
Dylan is well known in the UGC space (he’s founded multiple successful companies including SuperAwesome, which Epic Games acquired) and Max has scaled multiple companies (including SuperAwesome as co-founder & COO).
More importantly, they are joining us full time, bringing immense firepower to our already incredible team.
This is the evolution of Chartis, going from bootstrapping to accelerating - (still fueled by Yerba, beers, and vibes)
We’re focused on launching more services and initiatives for UGC creators on Fortnite to help them become wildly successful. But we’re not stopping there. AI has clearly opened up the gates to people who like games but could never (until now) become game creators.
The future’s wild and we’re just getting started. LFG

AI is going to create millions of new game creators. So @BrendanStock @gubmanic @mbleyleben and I have been cooking up something to help them succeed
I guarantee that in a few years some of the biggest game creators in the world will have started in these ecosystems
I also overhauled the roundups of featured games on all the vibe gaming sites.
I'm aggregating the Top 20 games from @spawn, @RemixGG_, @TesanaAI, @Rosebud_AI, @PlayAstrocade, @BitmagicAI, and @Rosebud_AI
This is the only place see can see ALL the top games from ALL the top vibe sites in one place.
Interesting to hear @BrandoLightShed and @RichLightShed debating whether Microsoft's acquisition of Activision was a mistake or not in light of AI's total transformation of gaming. I think a bigger question is how much more Discord would be worth to them today had they gotten that deal done...
Considering the tsunami of game content creation which AI is beginning to unleash, the IRS and HMRC may want to start staffing up for UGC creators...
A sector which most VC investors had written off has just become the most exciting place to build things (again).
Was having a similar conversation with @BrendanStock yesterday about this. Highlights that the future can often be (somewhat) knowable but picking the correct tech path is fiendishly difficult. UGC + interoperability + social was absolutely the right call but AI is the transforming factor.
Finally people get it. AI + prompt based gaming = Metaverse.
It is what @TimSweeneyEpic @ballmatthew and others have been saying for years.
Note that if you said AI was relevant and accelerant for the Metaverse, they'd say it was attaching a dead buzzword to the new one for street cred. But here we are- you cannot deny what your eyes see.
Very clear that the battle being waged for AI enabled gaming- especially prompts like what @DavidBaszucki is aiming for with Roblox- will lead to the exact vision of the Metaverse as put out in Ball's original essays:
-Massively Scaled
-Interoperable
-Real-time rendered
-3D virtual worlds
-Experienced Synchronously and Persistently
-By unlimited users
It's not a future that is coming, it's already here. Intentionally built and predicted accurately years back.
