Clement Attlee founded the NHS, built record numbers of council houses, nationalised Housing, Power, Rail, Energy, Steel, Fossil Fuel and employed more than 2m people in 5 years all with the greatest debt the UK had ever had.
And the economy boomed and debt fell.
All my life I've been taught to be scared. As a child it was USSR and nuclear Holocaust, then when that ended it was extreme Islam. Now it's Russia again. Since 1979 not one of those bogeymen has ever caused me anywhere near the harm my own successive Governments have.

VIDEO | UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham says the incident at RAF Fairford in September was "almost certainly" directed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The incident occurred in the early hours of 27 September, when police responded to reports of suspicious activity involving three vans near the base in Gloucestershire and arrested five men on suspicion of terrorism and explosives-related offences.
Nearby properties were evacuated during the investigation, and police later confirmed that petrol had been found in the vehicles but no explosives. Seven men have since been arrested in connection with the investigation and released on bail, with no charges announced.
No evidence has been provided by UK authorities establishing a link between the incident and the IRGC, and Burnham has not cited intelligence or other material supporting his assertion.

Had it not been for Boris Johnson and Victoria Nuland -- who personally forced Zelensky to reject the deal Ukraine and Russia were about to sign in Istanbul in 2022 -- this horrific war that has killed more than a million and consumed much of Ukraine would have been long over.
It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel.
If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.

The biggest difference between Starmer and Burnham is that Starmer was lying to Reform supporters to try and gain their votes, and Burnham is lying to Green supporters to try and gain their votes.
