India's recent poverty reduction offers an important illustration of this relationship.
The World Bank's October 2026 India Poverty & Equity Brief identifies increasing participation of
rural women in paid work as a key contributor to employment growth.
Between 2017 and 2023, India's employed population increased by approximately 134 million people.
Greater female participation helped expand the number of earning members within households,
supporting stronger consumption and improved economic circumstances.
The significance of this trend extends far beyond employment statistics.
When more women participate in paid work, it can contribute to household income, financial
resilience and broader economic activity.
Alongside employment expansion, social transfers and food subsidies helped support
vulnerable households.
These developments contributed to India's remarkable poverty reduction.
Between 2011 and 2023, the poverty rate at the $4.20/day threshold declined from 57.7% to
16.1%.
India's transformation has many important contributors, and the growing economic participation of rural women deserves a prominent place in that story.
Order book larger than market cap looks attractive, but execution matters more.
Revenue conversion, margins, timelines and cash flows are what investors should really track.
