I think some districts are studying why Special Education Teachers are leaving at a rate of about 150% any other teaching area and using it as a play book, rather than trying to reverse the trend.

I have to believe that is working because China's most popular singer, a record breaking 170 sold out stadiums last tour, has reached that level with a wholesome image. Something a woman in the U.S. would have to sing half naked with profanity to reach.

I'm interested in @WCSedu news because I want them as my next employer. I don't get budgeting 100k for a superintendent search when they have the best possible person as Interim. Someone with a more impressive resume won't replace the years vested and passion for the district.
A gun in the wrong hands certainly took the lives of 5 people.
"was shot and killed by a bystander" how many lives were saved by the gun in the right hand. Without that bystander having a gun we might be hearing of 25 or 30 kids dead.
We need changes but smart changes.
Teaching is so great. Just about every school has unfilled teaching positions. If you believe this B.S. is true please take one of those openings. Putting all sarcasm aside. Students need great teachers and there aren't enough and there are many, many openings.
Pay attention in school. Companies are paying much more to H-1B visa employees, not to mention the huge cost of bringing them here, because they took education seriously.
My brother makes $26 an hour.
40 hours a week.
That’s about $54,080 a year before taxes.
His monthly expenses:
$1,750 rent
$375 car payment
$230 insurance
$550 groceries
$200 utilities
And people still tell him:
“You just need to budget better.”
Bro is budgeting $26 an hour against 2026 prices.
Sometimes the problem isn’t spending habits.
It’s the math.
The concentration you can see on her face to deliver every note perfectly. No wonder why she's the greatest female artist on the planet. G.E.M. ( Gloria Tang ) of China.

Why you can't get a better job than teaching. Out a week with Covid and you get students checking in on you.
I was so busy, first time since Covid-19 I didn't get the booster. First time since Covid-19 I got Covid-19.
I wish the U.S. had performers this good. We are behind China in music that's for sure.

When nations invest in music it doesn't only result in the greatest musician on the planet but also an appreciation of education as a whole.

Totally disagree, this is a back door to indoctrination. Teachers are totally free to express themselves, on favorite music genre, sports teams, hobbies. When we shove our politics and sexual preferences down the throats of kids we run into trouble and it should.
Many students do need extra time, like a student with dyslexia. Most teachers would have the sense to work with students needing this, but there are a few that lack common sense. Thus the IEP. I do agree that the way many students use it, even those having a need, is not good.
I have days when I feel like this but I would need to be paid much more to take no job or any job vs. teaching. No more rewarding occupation than teaching.
China's commitment to music education is obvious.

I would be 100% for this if the books sent didn't have a political agenda, I believe many would. I would also need to believe that just 10% of books going to kids in families who couldn't afford them had a chance of being read to or by the intended kid.

Teachers are expected to:
• Arrive before everyone else
• Teach all day
• Manage 30+ different personalities in every class
• Differentiate lessons for every learning level
• Keep students engaged
• Handle behavior issues
• Answer parent emails
• Attend endless meetings
• Grade mountains of assignments
• Track data and update online systems
• Complete paperwork
• Plan tomorrow’s lessons
• Support struggling students
• Challenge advanced students
• Cover for absent staff
• Supervise lunch, hallways, and dismissal
• Adapt to every new initiative that comes along
And after all that, they're somehow expected to go home with enough energy to be a parent, partner, friend, or simply a functioning human being.
People talk about teacher shortages, burnout, and declining morale as if they're mysteries.
They're not.
You can't keep adding responsibilities to a job that's already overflowing and then act surprised when people reach their limit.
The real question isn't why teachers are burning out.
It's why anyone expects them not to.
That's why I wouldn't join The American Federation of Teachers. Focus on supporting teachers, and only on supporting teachers.
The American Federation of Teachers is calling for a nationwide boycott of Target over the company’s refusal to speak out against ICE.
Teachers: Is this something a teachers union should be involved in?

In order for students to transfer what they know to unique and novel situations, they must know more than the surface features of a problem. They must also understand the deep structure and underlying patterns that connect situations.
I am now investing significantly more instructional time in explicitly teaching students to recognize these patterns and apply them across different situations. One way I am doing this is through extensive modeling of expert thinking, using worked examples to make the underlying patterns visible, followed by lots of opportunities for students to practice applying those patterns in varied contexts.
I am also working with students to build automaticity with essential patterns through cover-write-check retrieval practice, using anchor charts like the one pictured. The goal is for students to move beyond simply remembering isolated facts or examples and develop the ability to recognize, retrieve, and apply the underlying pattern when they encounter a new situation.
Ultimately, if we want students to transfer knowledge, we have to explicitly teach them what to look for beneath the surface and give them enough varied practice to make recognizing those patterns increasingly automatic.
